That hit:
reminds me of a local buddy's near mint 30k '89 GT that was tagged while sitting at a stop sign. He took the brunt on the PS. I think it was salvageable. I tried like hell to buy it from the insurance company - to no avail. I'm pretty sure that car was parted, sadly:
Good luck with the project! Hopefully you'll keep us updated via this thread.

It did have the linen interior. For some reason the Club Sports were swapped for D90s by the original owner. The rest of the car was bone stock. It was originally owned by Stoddard family I believe. It was really depressing to see such a beautiful car get taken in its prime sent to the graveyard. Makes me appreciate Kevin's efforts with his '90 that much more!
Also makes me wonder if the PS frame on the '89 was pushed back beyond repair. The '89 looks like it took a bigger hit.

Slow progress...
I figured I'd pull the engine and reseal it while it's in for paint.
Every car I own has some secrets. This 90 GT is no exception. While preparing to pull the engine I found an exhaust sealing ring wedged next to the PS rack.
The manifold to exhaust gasket was also missing on the same side. If there is a floating exhaust manifold sealing ring that means the either the engine has been out or at a minimum the DS head was off. The car has 76k and I'm baffled why the head would need to come off with such little miles. Engine comes out tomorrow. Cannot wait to see if there is even an exhaust manifold sealing ring where it should be.
