Default 1986 5.0 Injector Help Please

Hi All,

Is there a direct replacement for the standard 928 5.0 injector. I have just started an inlet refresh and think it would be wise to replace the injectors while I'm at it. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Scott

Forgot to mention I am going to install Porken chips and X pipe if this makes any difference to what injector I use.

Lots of Bmw use injectors from FiveOMotorsport.com for replacement or upgrade.

Thanks James. That was what I have been looking for. I remembered reading about these sometime ago. I've also read something about the multi hole injectors but buggered if I can find it.

You could just have them cleaned, but if you do buy new ones, someone here would like to buy the old ones I'm sure.

I thought about having them cleaned but I reckon the 24# with an adjustable FPR would probably be better if I am going to chip it. I could be wrong.

Don't even mess with an adjustable FPR, they can leak...badly. Get an early S4 FPR. Those raise your 24# injectors to over 28# and are very reliable and widely used.

The S4 FPR also costs a lot less and is a genuine Porsche part so you know it is quality. These are what people are asked to change to when they chip their cars.

Check FiveOMotorsport.com as their prices are usually lowest. In fact they're in Whittier , CA so you can pick up if local.

I'm running the ford 4 hole injectors and 87 FPR in my 85, with Ken's chips. There are numerous threads on injectors if you'll search. The ford injectors run matching top and bottom o-rings to the 85-86.5 cars so they are a direct fit, keeping a couple things in mind.
First, some don't have the upper groove for the clip to attaching the injectors to the fuel rail. This is the case with the ones I have. I had to manually ad the groove. I used a lathe, but I know others have done it with a hacksaw.
Second, there are two different options for connectors. EV1 and EV6 IIRC. You need the EV1 style. Search for EV1 should get you results.

I just installed the Bosch 4 hole 24# matched, replacing my old ones, had Ken's chips, 87 FPR and MAF rebuilt in my 86.5, wow... She's never run better at the local DE.

Roger sourced them for me, direct fit

You want these Ford injectors if you desire drop-in replacements: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-9593-a302

M-9593-A302 which are discontinued but pop-up on eBay every not and then. I got a brand new set for ~$160 shipped last year. Great deal and they are literally plug and play injectors and look stock except for the blue body. The new ones, AA302s are slimmer and require a groove to be cut for them to fit into the fuel rail. The modification is minor and well-documented as to where the cut needs to be made. I'd still gun for the A302s and keep a look out on eBay for them or contact one of the suppliers (Roger at 928Rus or Carl at 928MS) to locate.
