I Deoxed them but did not sand them. to be honest when I was redoing the FPR and damper I saw them and thought I should give them a good cleaning, but forgot about it, and the Deoxing became an afterthought. I will get back in there and give them a good cleaning.

There's not a lot of slack on the wires that attach to these points. Mine were rather degraded and I did the surgery on them. They are exposed to heat, occasional fluids, etc. I remember doing some sub-manifold work and asked my son to torque down some simple bolts as part of his getting to know things ritual. Started the engine, which usually purrs, and it did. After 2 minutes of running it just cut out and would not restart. I gave out the usual cry, heard throughout the land... WTF ! My son did did not adequately torque down the bolt holding the passenger side regulator bracket which goes into the water jacket. I had 1.5 inches of water in my clean 'V', submersing my ground points. I was fortunate my engine controllers did not check out to their graves.

Working on about the same problem. I first cleaned all the grounds and 14 pin connector...Now i am pointing at my ignitionswitch too...i found out soms crazy behavior when turning the switch:

http://youtu.be/-r6dJhZo4lA As you can see it looks like shorting out and sometimes it makes contact...Did you ever notice this with your car?

I can't say I ever noticed that, but it does seem that sometimes it's not switching a relay. It's always turning over, but not firing. If that makes sense.

everyone seems to have mentioned the common culprits.

87928s4 aut.

my suggestion is to get it running once and go into engine bay and touch/shake the fuel injector harness first on one side and then on the other. what you are trying to do is to get the car to stall out.

in my experience the fuel injector harness is very brittle in these cars as would be expected and there are breakages and other things going on in boots and wire harness you cant see. basically it shorts out and then its lights out on the engine.

this may not be your problem, but if it is, then you need to start rewiring this harness or one vendor i believe sells the whole harness. either way it could, and i repeat could be your problem, i dont know for sure.

Default Update

I am going to call this a small victory...maybe....

I finally recieved my new ignition switch last night after some vender delay. I never want to replace that again. I hate those small little screws.

Well anyway I took the car for a short drive and let it idle for a while and it never died Im still a little gun shy and need to take it out a few more times, but it appears the new ignition switch has fixed the problem. I will report back after the weekend and a bit more testing to confirm

Thanks guys for all your patience and help....

After the spirited drive I took her on this evening, I'm feeling very confident that I have solved the problem.

On to the next project. Thanks again for all the help.
