I changed my rear coupler yesterday, and took it for a test drive about 5 miles from my house I turned around and started heading back. I was going about 50mph and the engine died like I shut it off. This happened before and the car started up after a minute but this time it won't (it was the fuel pump relay and I replaced it with a new one). I had to have it towed home.
When I got it to my house I went to try and start it again but when i keyed it on. the engine oil light and central warning were flashing, this didn't happen before the car died or while i was sitting on the side of the road. I checked the oil again and it's at correct level and the pressure was perfect when the car was running. I tried starting it again but it wouldn't start, its like it's not getting enough fuel.
I'm thinking there may be a short somewhere with the fuel pump but i'm not to sure. The engine oil and flashing central warning light have me really worried... Any thoughts?

Replace the fuel pump relay as a starting point.
You can swap in a similar type from another circuit - usually the horn relay is the same type.
Also replace the fuel pump fuse - sometimes they look OK but aren't.
Next suspect based on the instrument cluster lights is the ignition switch.

I had replaced the fuel pump relay with a used one, maybe I should splurge for a new one. I haven't checked the fuse yet. But you don't think the engine oil and central warning lights flashing are a major issue and point to the ignition switch?

jumper the relay to confirm it's not the relay and/or fuel pump
yes, do a visual oil check and check timing belt tension. You have a non-interference engine so if belt slipped or broke you are ok.

Had strange dashboard lights and odometer readings too, replaced the ignition switch last week and solved the problem. I Would go for that one, also a good reason to clean all the contacts up there while you are working on it...my lights are twice as bright since that!

The green wire being faulty can definitely cause your engine to cut out, but I don't know if it would cause your other symptoms (flashing warning lights). The ignition switch seems like a likely culprit to me, unless there are a few different things going wrong concurrently.
