Yes I thought it was a little odd but that is the mileage. It would be nice to keep it that way but the car needs to be driven and someone to love it.

Dave- Everything looks clean so I don't understand your question/comment.

Are you questioning why the hired quoted-cost mechanic didn't take the time to re-plate the metal bits and strip and PC all the painted parts? Enthusiasts have al the time and patience and funds to do this when it's a labor of love. Most wrenches-for-hire folks can't afford to spend $!00+ labor hours on painting stuff that doesn't affect th actual instant functionality. I work to keep it all in original-appearing condition, and I 'charge' myself a lot less than the many-dollars-per-minute that I charge for professional services. I write it down as "therapy" time, so I can avoid any odd tax implications around billable vs. self-improvement hours.

Full disclosure.... while Sean and I agree this 86.5 silver over BLACK interior ( I looked at it today) 5 speed is not a concour queen (I know I owned one)...it is very close to a very nice daily driver... Sean and I don't have the time to make it a nice daily driver.... We spend every last spare minute and penny on our racers.....

While at the track today...I fully intended to work on my racer a little bit, then work on this 928 today...but like usual the racer sucked up all my time and still didn't RUN.... So now I will be back (2 hour drive each way) at the track to work on my racer AGAIN.... I still hope to sort out the last few things on Silver Bullet (as we call it).... In my "spare" time...which is becoming almost impossible lately....

One last comment....when I say at the "track" what that means at the shop at Thunderhill that Sean I share...currently 3 928's in our shop...both our racers and Silver Bullet...plus a "few" more kept outside (parts cars) that we own plus Rick Petty and our mechanic SO there is a total of 8 928's at Thunderhill right now... Plus the "other" two we haven't picked up yet...yes we all are insane

I didn't consider it was all done 10 years ago too.

Spoke to Andrew today and showed this thread, may be interested

It may seem premature, but for the price, I would like to see if anyone needs the Trans, TT, and engine and interior, and I can get just the straight 86.5 body with no run strips.

I was planning on using another body I have for my rat racer project, but it is technically a bit kinked.

May be a stretch, but worth asking.

Well the car is still officially for sale!!!! I still need to go get it from the shop at Thunderhill and finish a few little things. I am debating fixing most of the little issues and registering it in California to drive for a bit? Hmmm haven't had a street 928 in a long time?

I know of someone in Maryland looking for a 32v stick I'll pass this on as its still avalable, he's driven my 86.5 auto and liked it, its not for sale but he wants a stick.

I hope to bring "Silver" as we call her...home this week. Complete the intake refresh, oil change, coolant flush and brake flush (plus inspect brakes) that should make her run well.

I do plan on doing a "test" smog at the college where I work to get an idea how she is running. If all goes well she will be ready in a week or two.

I do have a receipt for a water pump timing belt, its old but only about 5k miles ago.

We are looking for $4k as is with the above work. More is negotiable with next owner, quite easy if they are local too.

In case your wondering to me check it out means look at it , inside, outside, underneath. and actually drive it. On a race track as hard or as easy as you like.

I hope I have made my self clear other wise please FO.

PM me or call Toll Free if you need an explanation for the acronym.
