At the behest of a 911 fellow I looked at making an adapter for this, but found that there is version of the QJ for wider spaced jack points - the SLX.
It has up to a 60" max outside width. The 928 (and 99x/Boxster/etc) jack point centers are 54-1/8" apart.

Under the Lift

The new SLX model addresses the issue with their earlier model that I bought - not reaching the lift points. I have managed to use the lift by jacking slightly away from the lift points. With the rubber blocks distributing the load over a wide area I have not had any problems, although this is not ideal, of course.
With the SLX version they have extended the tray on one end, adding a cantilevered section.

Drifting
I commissioned my 5000SLX today, and can confirm the new longer frames fit the lift points, but still fit between the tyres. Posted a video of a test lift of my S4
Loads of room underneath, higher and with far less effort than I'ce managed with trolley jacks and stands.
I just leave the frames under the car in the centre - plenty of clearance of all underbody.

Yes they are very obvious. Just kneel behind front wheels and ahead of rear. The jacking points are square steel elements dropping down from frame rails, with hole in centre that lowers chance of slipping off when using trolley jack. The Quickjack's rubber blocks are just moved around to line up with these jack points.

It seems some new models have come out since this post was started-
Does anyone have a recommendation for a quick jack model that will work on both an 85 and an 89?
I see they have units that have a higher lift now.
any info appreciated

There is a more up to date thread on this product, which has a lot more info and some caveats. I have one. I see the video above by Stratford Shark at post #40 - never stack the rubber blocks. I was almost killed when I did that, and the blocks shifted when I was under it, and the vehicle almost came down on me. An Angel's hand rescued me, I am convinced. (had my SUV on it and needed the additional clearance).

Same here, in at least I SEE how they are a bad idea when stacked.
The issue is that the pads, dont move when the car goes up, but the car -does- because until the tyres are off the ground, the lift is moving backwards, but the car isnt.
You -could- have the car in neutral to combat this, or the pads could be on a plate with bearings, so they can move and remain square with the vehicle...but..for 2", its fine..leave the other set out.
