Very cool. I remember looking very hard for a photo of a 989 at one point in time, but there were none to be found.

Museums all have storage areas not normally available for public viewing.

Gpt a special tour by the Curator of the Will Rogers Museum. Not only all the back room storage areas, but also the restoration shop. Had a very difficult time keeping from cracking up. The curator looked and sounded like Larch from the Addams Family. My overall impression is that it must be weird to be so famous (the Rogers family) that all the things people normally throw out, sell in garage sales, or keep in their attic are cataloged and stored in a museum.

Many of those cars are taken around the world and actually driven at full tilt.

For Porsches 60th Anniversary in Australia they brought over six cars, and gave them a run on the historic Longford racing circuit here in Tasmania ... and they didn't baby them.

Walter Rohrl drove his original 1981 911 SC San Remo.

Here are a few ...

That would have been a better choice for the Panamera's back end. Looks a lot like the back end of your Saab

One of our very early Keith-and-Dan Sharktoberfest 'day trip' events was hosted by the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, and included a private "vault tour". With public-side displays that do change regularly, it makes a lot of sense for museums to have storage and resto areas for the rotating items. Cool stuff!

BTW, the Peterson does have a couple early 1980's donated 928's in the vault area in need of some resto effort if anybody feels generous. They aren't special, unique or milestone examples, unfortunately. Not yet anyway.

Looking at what Dave928S posted above, pure engineering masterpieces.

Then the realization that you own a car that Porsche poured so much effort into is very satisfying.

I think i may tinker a bit on mine tonight.

I had a chance to visit the Porsche museum back in August, and I would have MUCH rather seen this warehouse instead!

I think Peterson put a Euro on ebay a year or so ago, making space or something.

Mike in the pic with the petrol blue OB rear end, below that 928 is another.

In a few other pics you can see more standard issue 928s being saved with the rest of the Porsches up on racks.

I was very pleased to see this.

It doesn't appear to me that they are making space by ridding themselves of the 928s.

Nowadays with the V8 Panamera, and V8 Cayenne
the 928 is more important than ever to link the new passenger cars to the old.

IMO000 mentioned the rear end design of the Panamera,

I can definitely see the OB 928 rear end in the rear end design
of the Panamera and vise-versa.
