Question Whatis CE Panel help -wire ID

86.5 Auto-
CE Panel appears darn near perfect unmessed with, except- one cut wire.
I believe it was related to an entry in the service records for running down a micro-drain on the battery (this car spent most months each year in storage..)

It is the top wire/wires in the bundle under the first square relay (from L-R) on the lower row. So, IIRC it's a headlight double-relay on the far left, lower row, then a square one, and directly under that....

Attaching image of someone else's panel for a bit of a reference- I'm without supporting materials/own pic at the moment.
Probably a better explanation- under relay #5, top terminals in the black bundle. Though I think the insulation on mine is a different color.

You need to determine which block it is, don't worry about the color. They are lettered starting from the far left, so the black block above is plug "E" (fifth from the left).
Next, identify which column the wire is in, left or right (each block has two columns) Next, count how many wires down from the top is the one that is cut. If you do all that, you'll get an answer.

+1, check the plug letter and the wiring diagrams, you should be able to figure it out.

Thank you!

Ah, learned something- I still dig that! Should've looked more closely at the panel itself I expect.

So:
"E"
Left AND Right columns
Top row

Wiring diagrams are one of very few things that shunt me over into learned helplessness mode...but you're right, I'll give it a shot, once I relocate 'em online again.

Central locking supply feed to the fuses for each lock & the console button panel (guessing the central locks are dead) + push button (only) for the rear defroster.

The columns number from the bottom up, so the 2 top wires in plug 'E' are E15 and E25 [#5 in column 1 and # 5 in column 2].
E25 goes to the alarm module and E15 goes to the rear window heater switch.

OK, they must've snipped the alarm during the 'drain' triage. I haven't tried the central lock button, willdo in the a.m. They do auto-cycle when the key is used to unlock. I'll go search for common causes of drain from that if any, I'm guessing door alignment/lock cycling. Guess I don't have to buy the defrost switch now! (yet)

Glad to have learned the nomenclature and found a way ahead, thank you!

Just too busy with Boy Scouts (now ~done) work, life, home projects, 928 projects and just keeping my 928 on the road. Haven't seriously worked on it for about 5 years now. I do now & then add items I discover just so I don't forget - sometimes new interesting items sometimes edits to things I realize I need to improve.

I do intend to finish it one day but it realistically it needs a sustained effort to get it ready and I haven't been able to do that. Unfortunately some of the project stuff I completed earlier has dated itsself out of relevance (audio moves fast as do some other aftermarket segments...).

I used to work on it during trans-atlantic & trans-pacific flights (nice sustained effort window) but haven't been travelling so much recently.

At least one good thing in the meantime the self publishing industry has moved along very well, much easier. Tools are better too, but given legacy issues - that doesn't help this effort so much.

You can figure it out for yourself...

... and you didn't provide enough information for anyone else to figure it out...

Hi Alan, I appreciate what your saying...I have read numerous links and have seen references a Table 90 on p34 (which I think is a full description of the CE panel). But the pdf only goes to p53....not to p390. I guess I'm missing something.

I'm not lazy...maybe just stupid...

You don't need any more than that... but you do need to give us more information if you want help - plug K has 10 possible connections - they all do different things...

I seem to recall there have been odd issues with the rear window defrost sticking in the on position and feeding back into other circuits..perhaps why the wire was cut ????
