Cool Darien.

Maybe we will have a tipping point for some SoCal Gatherings now (again). A long....long time ago in a galaxy 100 miles north of here there were regular drives. You know, where we actually DROVE instead of sat there looking at shiny paint. No more of that since I'd say 2003.

You and Ducman are the hopes for the future. "A New Hope"

We had regular driving events where folks would actually show up! When folks stopped showing up, I stopped planning them. The ACH and AFH scenic drives start a stones' throw from here. I do that tour for fun twice a month when there isn't snow to close the road to Wrightwood. Summer days the tours extend to Big Bear a few times, thanks to friends who own large homes around the lake.

Used to do pretty regular maintenance clinics too.

The good thing about L A is so much to do so many people.....the bad thing, so much to do so many people.... Something like 18 MILLION in the greater L A area ! I refer to the valley (san Fernando ) as the other side of the world it may only be 45 miles from Costa Mesa but depending on traffic.....sometimes seems like a lifetime.

Perhaps better to NOT think of Los Angeles as a single area because it is so large..

I moved across the country in 2012 and shipped a car and a boat, but I drove the 928 and it was a great time. Highly recommend it. I didn't do any touring, did it solo, and just enjoyed the challenge of doing it as quickly as possible. The car loved it too.

A couple ~20-hour driving days will get you guys here, then a few more hours to get from the top of the Cajon pass to your new digs maybe 40-50 miles away. Unless you arrive really really early in the morning.

Her in SoCal you will have to deal with people who can't drive that do and people that can't drive in the rain (avoid the freeways on rainy days).

You also get traffic for no reason, literally.

Fun place to be though

I drove a 86CJ7 to Cali from Delaware in '01 with some clothes, a snowboard and some hunting gear. Everything I owned. Great moving experience. My back was sore for a while cuz the jeep didn't have adjustable backrests but it was fun bouncing across the country.

Can't wait to get the 928 sorted so I can join the rides, meet some of u in person and check out the cool German hot rods!

Darien , if you are into good BBQ there is a Famous Dave's in Palmdale . That's one thing that I haven't seen yet in L.A. You can always check out the schedule at Willow Springs Raceway for time attack events at Streets of Willow. POC and PCA runs there as well, big track + streets. Welcome to the sunshine state !

Famous Dave's is here in Orange, right down the street from Brew Hawg. Another in Santa Ana, and one in Long Beach.
