, can someone tell me its function. In my car the throttle does not touch it under any circumstances so it is not used

Thanks Rob. I actually just bought this car. It only has 23,000 miles. It’s missing the original stereo head unit so I need to replace the aftermarket pos with the original stereo. Does it tell you what this car originally came with? Also, I’m not seeing a roof mounted antenna on this car Is that nornal? Thanks Todd

There are 50 French market '93 GTSs. They are all essentially optioned identically (though there are a couple of sunroofless ones) and none of them have any radio option codes at all. (though all fifty have the I423 option for cassette holder in the armrest, perhaps the original radio was a Blaupunkt Symphony, which was used from 1991-1993 in the ROW? That's a total speculation.

No provision for a CD changer in the cargo area?
Upon close observation it appears there are holes in the rear hatch carpet indicating it once had a CD changer in it Rob. Is it safe to assume then that it had the same stereo/CD changer set up as the US models. And what are your thoughts on the roof mounted antenna? It doesn’t have one and I see no previous signs that it ever did. Have you ever seen any GTS’s worldwide without a roof mounted antenna?

I don't know whether the ROW Blaupunkt Symphony was capable of controlling a CD changer. If not, then by default it would have have to have had a CR-1. If there are holes where a CD changer existed, is the control cable still there, tucked under the carpet (in my experience people don't bother unstringing the associated wiring.) It's also possible there was an aftermarket changer there- look for signs of other wiring leftovers.
No idea RE: the roof antenna, I thought all cars '90-95 had the roof antenna hole, there's only 1 part number for the sunroofless roof panel- 928 503 501 03. I somehow doubt the panel is not original.

A lot of French 928's were delivered without any kind of radio.
So either you remove the current unit or install a period correct or period looking radio.
Do you have a picture of the roof? I don't think that a 1989 or later 928 was delivered without a roof antenna.
