If Rob doesn't have the VIN info, then again, almost certainly a MY 79.

Easy check is the engine number. Euro S have the M28/11 & 12 (11 is five speed 12 is auto).

OTOH, a grey market 79 Euro is a reasonably rare car. But "worth anything once done" is a very iffy proposition. Depends on what it needs and how much time and effort you are willing to put into it.

If you have pics, start a new thread on it. You will get a lot of opinions on it. Some of them might actually be worth listening to.
Im gonna try and look at it this weekend. It is a manual so M28/11. If I can confirm it is an S, I will buy it.

Ah, that link is some sort of generic vehicle specs site. I think there's a 'lost in translation' issue there- I'm guessing 'model since mid year 1979' is probably referring to the changeover to MY1980 production in late summer. Either that or they're just wrong.

In any case, if the car 9289102561 you're looking at has an M28.11, then most likely it's a '79 Euro with an M28.11 transplant. Post back with the full engine serial number and we can go from there.

Most definitely not an S. All '80-83 non-s and euro S CIS engines had their WUR straight, not angled as all US AND EURO non-s CIS engines from '78-79.

The engine is m28/01 since it's euro manual. Car is worth no more than $1000-1500 at best. $500 1-2 years ago, but now people are asking for the world ($2,500)!

If it doesn't rain/snow too much, I may look at it too.

Ha, thanks, pics and intro will follow once I get it... just made the deal yesterday. Probably won't be able to actually get it for another two months, waiting will kill me! Will bring it home to join my 993 and R8, but am so excited because I have loved the 928 since I was a kid.

PM me for details of the car. I saw it today and took some pics. Give me your email or phone # and I can send you some pics.

The car has a strange engine number. Not M28/11.

I know what he will take for it.
