Arnoud, it was very nice to have you here and thank you very much for the nice pictures and for the chokolate. We did not think you were going to make it down to Baden-Württemberg during the day but obviously you did. Yes, many times the german autobahn is a mess of never ending bumper to bumper traffic. Best time if you like to go fast is early Sunday morning. Hope you will have a nice time in Leipzig. Sorry for the swedish weather but it is not always raining here.

And pictures of today's Euro 928 meeting (as selected by Roger + Jim + myself):
They took out the one-off made all aluminium 928 car for us:
Weekend puzzler for you all, winner will get an air + oil-filter for the correct answer from any Rennlister who has NOT spoken with anybody attending the Leipzig meeting: what is this suspension component doing here?
Roger looking for parts:
And yes: that is me.
They had to bring in this silver car to beat our 928's on the tracks. Roger bought it, Sean.
Gentlemen that were involved in the development of the 928, 2nd from left being Gunther Kussauer who has been the main organizer of this Euro 928 meeting this year.

I need to get in touch with Peter Falk, who is on the left on the last picture. I will ask Gunther how to do this.
Is it Manfred Krämer on the right?
Who is the man on the left of him?
Thank you for the pictures and words

That alu body 928 has been discussed in here maybe few years ago. I took few pictures of it in Stuttgart museum. I think reason for different suspension is that alu body wouldn't cope forces from standard suspension and so they did entirely different setup with canged suspension mounting.

Your welcome Mads! Jee: I look like Quasimodo's worse looking cousin in that picture, and that was before any of the Euro 928 partying started...

Did we not agreed with you + Jim + Roger that that picture is going to be "in the vault" and will never be published?
Today's Euro 928 snippets:
After my roadtrip to get to Leipzig + driving on the Porsche test track during yesterday Friday, my tires were worn beyond the minimum marker threads (Erkka: you told me to burn some rubber, so I did) - as I had more or less expected before the trip. I had therefore ordered new tires at a local Leipzig tire shop upfont about 1 week ago, so to get those installed @ 09:00 today.
Old rear tire, about "done" and EoL now, as there was less than 1 mm thread left:
New tires getting ready to be put on (was also handy moment to quickly inspect brakes and pads and suspension & exhaust, while up in the air: all OK):
After my tire shop "pit stop" I rejoined today's program, which was a drive around old town Leipzig. Stopped here at a local landmark, being the "Volkerschlachtdenkmal" = largest war memorial in Europe.
Then towards a very nice lunch place around a large lake ("life is a beach", right?), I counted 47.5 sharks lined up here (the 0.5 being a unique converted 1 of only 2 ever made 928's powered VW Golf):
I had a very nice talk with Peter Falk, and if I ever become 81 years of age I hope to be as energetic, involved and fit as he is! For those of you who do not know who he is: shame on you! Go read your Project 928 book. As per the official Porsche press description when he turned 80:
In 1959 Peter Falk began his career with Porsche as a young road testing engineer in the vehicle testing department. There he not only played a crucial role in the development of the original 911, he was also behind the wheel for the first race of the brand-new Porsche 911, taking a very respectable fifth overall at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally with co-driver Herbert Linge. In the following years, many race car types from the 906 all the way to the 917 were designed under his responsibility as the head of pre-series and race car development with which Porsche established itself among the leaders in international motor racing.
From 1973 to 1981 Peter Falk was the head of road testing for series development of the 911, 924 and 928 models. His special areas of expertise were bodywork and transmissions as well as track testing and endurance tests. As the head of racing development and racing director, starting in 1982 Peter Falk was responsible for the highly successful era of Group C 956 and 962 sports-prototype racing cars. With seven overall Le Mans wins and eleven world championship titles, this racing car project proved to be the most successful in company history. Two overall victories at the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1984 and 1986 were additional high points in his career.
As the head of chassis development, from 1989 until his retirement in 1993 Peter Falk was responsible for many successful vehicle projects. He thus had a key role in the development of the 911 derivative 993 as well as advance development of the 911 derivative 996 and Porsche Boxster.Peter Falk also remained very active in the motoring world after his retirement. In addition to his work as a participant in and organiser of classic car rallies, Peter Falk is high in demand as an interview partner on automotive topics.
So I asked him to sign my intake:
This was followed by much more driving around the local area's with an occasional stop, and we all made sure that was a lot of 928 rumble to hear everywhere.
Later in the evening we went to eat in old downtown Leipzig, and while almost all went with bus (due to there being about no parking capacities) a few of us drove with our sharks. I was a passenger this time (in a fantastically well kept 928 GTS Cobalt colour 5 speed manual with sport seats. Darned: those sports seats are GOOD).
And in the end it is all about the people, I think we had about 75 during the dinner here:
Note that during yesterday's Porsche Leipzig factory tour - which was excellent - we were not allowed to take any photo's nor video's nor make any phone calls (we all had to give them our camera's and mobile phone's).

I thought the event was fantastic and would like to say a big thanks to Gunther for organizing it! I enjoyed meeting so many people! Also, Leipzig was much more interesting than I expected. We got a beautiful tour and learned a lot about the city and area.
Many interesting cars and many very high mileage cars that look GREAT. What I did notice in discussions is that some Europeans are unaware of the importance of changing the fuel lines. The Dutch were full aware, but many others were not aware. So, you other Europeans, please change your fuel lines!
Cheers,
John

I am not sure, if all of you recognize the implications of this first picture in Arnoud's last thread. This is a 928 that is disguised as a VW Golf... The inside is 100% 928. Unfortunately, I did not manage to talk to the owner. This car shows just a wonderful sense of humor and lots of skill. The body is wider and longer than Golf, it must have been all handcrafted and modified...
