I read the articles in the 70's. I remember them being done by a customizing outfit calf b&b.

Great thread.
Beautiful pictures.
Thanks so much Arnoud and all for sharing.

Without being there, this is for me a true connection to the 928 root.
Thanks again guys.

b&b made the targa, not the Nordstadt Golf.

My pleasure Bertrand!

More pictures to come perhaps late tonight, as I am visiting my family in the Netherlands today and this evening going to drive the journey back and stop in Denmark to rest and visit my nephew (he is pilot flying for a Danish airline company).

Porsche might not know their own history. He might have beaten factory Monte effort almost a year. It had to run in unlimited X class as there were no homologation yet.

A low car does not have sufficient suspension travel for optimum road holding at high speed driving, you will get major problems going over the more and more popular speed bumps being found on many streets nowadays, you cannot drive on small dirt roads as you probably will be afraid of the belly grinding the ground. Maybe Arnoud should increase the rear ride height slightly for a better look.
Increasing rear height is one option. Either way it looks silly at current setup where front is much higher than rear.

Arnoud,

THANK YOU so much for all the great pictures you've posted of Euro 928 '14. I sit here salivating at the pictures of the cars and the great visit you all had to the Museum. Was there about 5 years ago, and really enjoyed it, along with the MB museum.

I wish I could have added one more number to the 'auslanders' in attendance this year, but it just wasn't in the cards. My wife had two serious spinal column surgeries the last 3 months, and is still in recovery. Hopefully, everything can be in alignment for the next Euro 928.

Great that Peter Falk was in attendance - at least for a while. I so wish I could have asked him about the status of my old acquaintance at Porsche Weissach - Hans Mezger (designer of the original 911 engine as well as the 917 and several others). I'd love to know how he is doing in retirement. His comments about the 928 as we were having lunch one day in the late 1980's were one of the primary reasons I bought my first Porsche - a 928!

Made it back in one piece - thanks to Gunther and his team for all the hard work - we have a lot of work to do in the States to match the quality of this event. All the cars were of a very high standard. Great people and good times and more detail later when I swim out from under my work load.

Thank you for visiting - it was good to have you here at the Euro928 2014 in Leipzig.
Fifty percent of this year's attendees came from abroad, all of them enjoyed the program very much.
It is not over yet, as we will a) release the Gran Turismo I/2014 version 2 with all the pages in correct order before the month ends and have b) started to discuss about putting together a detailed report of the event (which will probably be also added to the Gran Turismo 2/2014 which will appear in August).
As we have our anual meeting coming up at the end of this month, I will start in June to document the event on the website http://Euro.928.net with many pictures.

Default More Euro 928 2014 pictures selection, part zwei...

The body is wider and longer than Golf, it must have been all handcrafted and modified...

I thought the event was fantastic and would like to say a big thanks to Gunther for organizing it! I enjoyed meeting so many people! Also, Leipzig was much more interesting than I expected. We got a beautiful tour and learned a lot about the city and area.

Many interesting cars and many very high mileage cars that look GREAT. What I did notice in discussions is that some Europeans are unaware of the importance of changing the fuel lines. The Dutch were full aware, but many others were not aware. So, you other Europeans, please change your fuel lines!

Cheers,

John
John: I spoke with the owner and he has had that car for many, many years and not selling it. More than 1700+ hours of work went in making it. It sounded super mean, and definitely is very fast.

Gary: hope for a good full recovery of your wife, and please both attend for the next Euro 928 meeting. I am sure the next one is going to be soon = hopefully during next year 2015.
And Peter Falk and the other Porsche persons were in attendance during the whole Euro 928 meeting = from Thursday evening till Sunday morning, which was fantastic for all who wanted to talk with them.

Roger & Jim: very nice to have finally meet you both "in the flesh". Please tell more about your impressions, as that will provide an even better "inside view" since you have done so many events in the U.S.A. already.

Could have easily be another day or two longer, as there we so many attendees to talk to and not enough time (is there ever?).

And here part two (zwei) of more pictures:

Trophy winners (as were selected by a committee of: Roger + Jim + the Porsche marketing director who had only very recently retired) photo shoot, for from left to right: best S cabrio, longest distance traveled (that will be yours truly then), best GT, best S4, best non-928 928, best S, best GTS, best GTS cabrio.

Right: 2 * polished + 2 * waxed + "glass sealed" waxed + 600km of travel "dust" on top of it + waxed once again. Totally showroom looking and a 10 out of 10 from even 1cm distance.

Sunday leaving (around 13:00 local time), a few shoots:

Fancy a nice 928 GTS derived cabrio?

Another Euro 928 participant needed to also drive to the Netherlands, so we decided to drive in convoy. An absolutely gorgeous looking Cobalt blue with white interior 5-speed GTS with sport seats and full leather interior . He is never going to sell it (many asked during the meeting), and I so understand why.
We had a blast driving the 600+ km, most of it over fast unlimited speeds German motorway.

Reads like an amazing event! Sure wish I could've made it... next time I hope.

Great pictures too! Thanks for posting them. Arnould, I posted your pic of the '81 RoW on my Facebook. So glad the Museum now has an early body spoilerless 928 in their stable!

Gunther, you put together a great one! I most appreciated the personal invite. Thank you.

It was great to meet so many different yet somehow alike people. It was a pleasure meeting Roger, Jim, John, Arnoud, Ad from Rennlist. Did I forget anybody? I am swamped with work so I will post pictures later on. Roger, I didn't get to thank you for the wine in the parilla, what a great one (or three?) it was.

The sticker is a fake.
I'm almost sure the car also is. Well, I hope so...

But I suspect someone was there with a black 1988 CS, brown full leather.

Three black 928 CS were produced, all 1988s.
