90dB is quiet. Like stock exhaust quiet. Stock 997GT3's can't make that number at full throttle. You'll need something more serious/restrictive than the XR-1s to achieve this.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The combo you're describing is an aural masterpiece but it's not quiet.
Yep, been there more than anyone and Dennis is right. Again, I have a bolt on additioal large muffler (flowmaster or something)and that brings me down to 94 db or so. then, i just use a right angle on a fart can short muffler to get down to 90db. only have done that once. the 92 can be reached with the right angle alone..... sounds like you need one more removable muffler for laguna. maybe just after the y pipe. just a borla tip muffler and 3.5" makes me a solid 101db to 103db depending on the day.

One way to reduce overall noise is where the output of the exhaust is....mine is on drivers side just after of the rear crossmember.... I never have been hit for sound, but haven't ran laguna either

Part number, and where you got it from, please? And it's 3" in and out?

So the 2nd Borla arrived today, a 15"x5" round sportsman XR-1 40085. ($112)

The oval is a multi-core XR-1 40575. ($230). Both are 3" centers. Got them both off eBay.

The fit, perfecto!

Last muffler came in today, looks like it will fit no problem:

Did get the headers back from the coaters, and now that I see them again I'm going to stick with the flanges. The collectors are so short I'm hesitant to cut any length off to fit the V-bands.

There's other alternative: you fabricate small flange-to-v-band adapters.

And my Magnanni Federico's don't suck either.
(could use a polish though)

ATB, I'm doing the exact exhaust setup with a 3" single Y, but after cats. It will be ducted to a 3" round muffler sitting in the intermediate area with a second 3" straight through where the factory muffler sits in the rear and an oval Flowmaster exhaust tip. I opted to keep the cats (not factory, but aftermarket metallic spun types) since it's a street car and to keep the bite down of the exhaust. From what I hear, the sound of a single 3"-3.5" is addicting on these cars.

It is, especially above 4500 RPM

Looking forward to getting it all hooked up. Need to get the engine in first though. Just got done installing the late model engine cross brace, and am in the process of installing the aluminum rack bushings. Once that's done, the rack goes back in, new ball joints go in, and time to drop in the engine.
