Didn't know that. Joe won't want a non-proper hood.

If it were me I would straighten up the old one as best as possible, line it up, drill appropriate holes to bolt it up (secure firmly in place) for the trip then discard.

Everyone - this is Joe. The small bolts holding the exhaust heat shields on the underside of his car are properly replated in yellow cad. You can eat off his wheel wells.
Very sorry too to see this.

Happy that you are ok Joe.
That's the most important thing in all this.

And you are very lucky that only the hood got damaged.
Quite easy to fix.
Your car is simply the most beautiful and cleanness 928 I have ever seen.
A great source of inspiration for many owner here.

For those who don't know Joe's car, take a look at this and enjoy :

Joe:

If it is any consolation, I had a customer with brand new Cup Cars that had this happen....twice.

Problem with remembering the hood pins.

Pretty much the same result, except the windshields broke and the roofs got the crap beat out of them.

And used Cup Car body parts are fairly rare.

And there is never a half price sale on Cup Car parts.

Ah, so is that why you have that 'spare' Cup car hood in the dyno room?

No, that one is bent on the front edge.

Thinking about it, maybe they should include a hood in the "spare package".

Mission accomplished & Thank you Bill Ball !
I got my hood from Bill, it's practically an NOS part (perfect)
same year as my car, it was probably right behind me on the
assembly line when painted.
All that was needed was to remove the falling oil soaked foam
liner and prep it for a new pad but once I saw how nice the paint
was underneath I decided to go without it, glad I did

That is the biggest hood I've ever seen. Looking good, Joe!
