Default Which way does the MPH impulse sender go?

Hello everybody. I am slightly confused about an image I was on a post I saw on this site. For the impulse sender, does the flat side go down and touch the differential hole surface or does the two leg side go down? I put mine in earlier this morning on the two leg side and it did not work. Then I saw a post of someone who did it backwards but the picture was kind of blurry. I assumed the two legs touched the differentials hole surface because that was the way I found it.

I just looked at my old transmission and differential which is sitting on a pallet in my garage. The two black legs are 'up', so the flat side you speak of is against the differential case.

thanks mainporsche. I will go under the car and put the flat spot to the bottom of the hole. Lol the old sensor was probably good. hopefully nothing inside my transmission is backwards

Make sure the mating surface and any contact points are clean. Magnetic impulses are the signal through that sensor.

update, I finally put on the impulse sender. the MPH gauge still does not work. I plugged in the multimeter into the back of the impulse connectors, it makes beeping sounds every other second or so. Thinking about it, i used my old sensor as a reference on how the wiring was hooked up. Does any one know what number on the connector the green wire goes to and what number on the connector the brown wire goes to? thanks

also I have few more questions. How do I know I did not screw up the brown red connectors? Is their anyway to test that what the speedometer sender plugs into is working? Is their a function I turn to on the multimeter to see if thoose wires are good? thanks

Follow the cruise control repair procedure in the manual, in there there is a test for the speedo pulse at the cruise control brain. Test that first
