I'm going to ping him. How close is this car to you?

Cool color. I assume it's pretty unusual, since I don't remember seeing it before.
It's just 45 min's away from me. I'm up that way for work every couple of weeks so let me know if you need some eyes.

If you could pick it up for 2k it could be good. But seeing is believing.

That's my old car--bought it in 2001 with 60K on it & sold it (in Buffalo) in 2006 with 90 on it.

I did a lot to the car--has Eibach springs & Bilsteins. Powder coating included replacing all hoses, gaskets, rubber, etc.

I installed HID driving lights--an early application.

Too bad the 930 steering wheel is gone!

That car ran & drove very very well.

Hi Tom. I really appreciate the call back the other day.

If you looked through the thread, you can see that it's not as well kept as when you had it. I haven't made another offer on the car yet, but it's still a possibility. Right now I'm holding my water while Congress and the Prez get their ducks in a row.

If you've got a G job, you'll be fine. All back pay will be given.

Here is a really nice '86 near me in Wayne Pa,
lot of $ in Wayne and a lot of really nicely kept cars:

I work for Verizon Wireless (I know: our service is expensive. However, it really is the best, and VZW is the best company I've worked for in my 30 year programming career.), Cat works for Blue Cross. We're both fine, but the uncertainty has her uncomfortable with discretionary spending. It'll all be over Friday, and I can get back to searching in earnest!

****. $12.5k, 52k on the clock. That's a third less than I paid for my 951 with the same mileage. What a beautiful car. Unfortunately, that's more than I have to spend on a car right now. I'm not even going to insult the owner by offering him what I can afford.

What an amazing value these cars are.

Seriously: You could step into a 928 in pristine condition for under $20k. It will still outperform 90% of the cars on the road and look damned sexy doing it. Meanwhile, what does it ask for in return? Some regular checks and maintenance, and a few thousand in service every 10 or 15 years.

I don't get it.

I think you should offer the owner what you can afford.

Before you offer, talk to him about the car, and your own P-car background. Lots of owners like to know their car will be cared for properly and they may want the garage space more than the money.

Worst case is he says "no".

So many nice cars on the Left Coast and down in Florida! Unfortunately, between the flight, the fuel, and the hotels, picking up a car out there adds quite a bit of money to the purchase price.

Shawn, just a note. I shipped mine from Colorado (open carrier) for $500. I relied on a member here (who has since sold his 928) for a PPI. The car was better then he advertised, and I couldn't be happier.

Yes, you won't get to drive it before you buy it. But for a car you can reasonably assume hasn't seen road salt and has been inspected by people who live with these cars every day, the shipping charges can be totally worth it.

Crap, manual, though. Some weirdness with the center console. No mention of maintenance, either. Worth a call, though. Atlanta is less than $200 from here.

Let me run it by the Boss...

****! I never thought of that. It cost me more than that to ship a dog from OK to PA!

Thanks, Matt!

I've been trying to get in touch with this guy: http://carbondale.craigslist.org/cto/4115307852.html, but nothing back from him yet.

Trying to get ahold of this guy now: https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...8-5-speed.html. A forummer, but not an active forummer. He bumped his ad a few days ago, but the listed phone number is out of service.

Just saw this on the local CL. From the one picture provided looks clean & low mileage.
