Default Anyone in the Buffalo area know this car?

Thanks in advance: http://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/4017558069.html

My thoughts so far:

The price looks a little too good.

The contact info is the owner's boyfriend, who told me the owner won it in a divorce settlement. I contacted the owner (it took several tries), who told me (via text): "I will have the opportunity in the morning to obtain dealer information from my ex-husband...he's been traveling...so tomorrow I will have the info to provide to you and answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to call me tomorrow between 12 & 1."

Like I said, based on the pictures in the ad, the price looks low; like maybe 50% low. However, if she really won it from the ex- and just wants it gone enough to basically give it away, then I'll be happy to accomodate. In any case, I won't be meeting 'her' in a seedy part of town with a pocket full of cash...

Looks very nice. Make sure you get he maintenance records. Especially for the timing belt & water pump.
Good luck.

Thanks, Bilal. My list of questions goes like this:
  • What is the VIN?
  • When were the timing belt & water pump last done?
  • Who maintained it?
And the on to the PPI FAQ

The strut tower brace looks like it has a sticker. Does anyone recognize it?

The strut tower brace has the "928 Specialist" sticker, so this would indicate it is their carbon fibre cross brace. I happen to have the same brace and have great experience with it. Most likely the stock brace was replaced (aluminum) because it bends fairly easily.

Cheers!

Well, I'd call that a good indicator that the car has been well cared-for.

I hope this doesn't evaporate or turn out to be a scam...

for that price, I wouldn't get too wrapped up with a ppi. It clearly looks like it was cared for at some basic level. The intake job would have likely included new rubber bits on top of the engine - anybody doing a nice job like that typically would do the other WYAIT stuff too. Just get it, to the TB/WP, and drive it. Can't go wrong. Love the color - same as my previous 86.

I'm four hours away, so that would be unfathomably awesome, Adam!

I'll PM you if things move forward.

Ok, I will be crossing the border just before dinner, picking up a few items and heading back. But I can easily check it out and maybe stop at the Anchor Bar.

I will watch for a PM.

PM sent!

Thanks, Adam!

Also: got the VIN. Last five digits are 862257. So, an 86.5!

No, just a general remark on how small of a world it is.
