Default Richard Petty's new engine. 5 liter CIS

FINALLY, we put a 1980 euro CIS on top of one of these euro 5 liter engines.
full euro 80 cams and heads on top of a 85 US 5 liter bottom end with valve cuts to fit the two valve set up .

drum roll please................................

310rwhp and 325rwt.

This is what you get vs the 290rwhp with the Ljet AFM of the US system 20 more hp as we alll suspected.

Rick, hope the engine gives you many years of service.
make sure you run Amzoil and keep the revs under 6500rpm!
If it doesnt, it wasnt my fault. I just assembled the darn thing!!

Mark

where is the dyno sheet? I love to compare the shape of the curves with my tiny 4.5L semi-euro....my guess is torque peak is slightly lower, say 4000 and HP peak is also lower....maybe 5400 vs mine as 4250-5650

That's a non-S CIS?

Interesting.

Sorry, but to be clear, is the CIS induction from a Euro S or non S car?

I figure there is a difference, and would be interested to know if these numbers were had with a non-S CIS induction.

So... Am I understanding that this is the short block from a 5.0 32v and everything else from a 4.7 CIS Euro S?

If that is the case the extra .3 L yield 10hp?

Not exactly......Petty's original engine was a stock USA 1979 4.5L that made 222whp-233 torque...so this is a HUGE bump for him...

A similar 4.7L Euro in a race car made 278whp-298 torque My euro-ish 4.5L with Euro S cams-intake with ported heads (stock USA valves) makes 265-289....so increasing to 5.0L from either engine would be about 300whp-320 torque...right where Petty falls....

Nice! I'll have to keep an eye out for a 5.0L motor

Ok, now what would a late LH euro top end do on a 5.0 L bottom? Or is that a 'what's the point' sort of question?
