Mic is an Audio Technica PRO24CM connected to my GoPro Hero2 via a massive gauge wire that acts as a tether as well. Mic is zip tied to the body right by the exhaust outlet. Wind noise is reduced by the location and the windscreen on the mic itself.

Yours sounds awesome George!
That may not be **** but it has a similar effect!

Nice video- really enjoyed that-especially the bits with 911's going backwards!

I'd say mine sounds more like a vacuum cleaner.

Some people may not be able to easily play a wav file, so I uploaded it to Youtube. Of course, they only handle video, so added a few photos and made it into a short video.

I know there's a thread somewhere that compared exhaust sounds, but I couldn't find it, so started a new thread.

Jorj7,
I love the sounds coming out of that exhaust!
This is your S4 or the GTS? What's your exhaust setup?
Would you have a short list of exhaust systems for the S4? I've been searching high low on the internet for a good set. I've only managed to see some ads on SuperSprint exhaust.

Updated exhaust; full Lomas system (X pipe, no cats, two small mid mufflers and a small rear Gibson muffler in sport mode). Each pause is at 2k, 3k, etc, topping out at 6k.

Yazid,

Thanks, pretty simple exhaust set up on the S4. Stock exhaust manifold, Power Broker X-pipe with the cats removed, the small stock GT resonators, and 928 Specialist RMB. By the way, this recording was made without the supercharger belt on, the way I drove it back from the last race (550 miles). With the supercharger running, there's a lot more gear noise from the V1 T-trim and whooshing from the blow-off valve.

some psychopath made a 3" exhaust that terminated in a 5" megaphone (or Flowmaster muffler) that i had on my '87S4 that i sold 11 years ago. i didn't put the Flowmaster on much, it was usually just straight pipe to the megaphone.

after 3000 rpm, it sounded "like the gates of hell have been thrown open" ... according to the old website i got it from, and that's no lie!

after i installed it, took it out on the highway, and hit it - scared the crap outta me for a second! i could light up every car alarm in the parking garage at work if i wasn't careful.

i don't know if i still have any soundclips, but i'll look. anybody remember who made these exhausts?

Here is my 3 in. single exhaust with flowmaster 40. Yes it does scream loud but I think it's just perfect for a weekend fun car. I get as many compliments on how it sounds as on how it looks.

That's it! I loved that exhaust!

With the megaphone, it was a snarling monster, and in a few minutes it could be swapped with the muffler for a long drive, state inspection, or a ride with the passenger-seat-speed-warning-siren wife.

Tom was the one that did my X-pipe.

That model exhaust was called the Avenger:

Prices were reasonable also:

My car doesn't sound as nice but after getting her back with the X-pipe and hi-flo cats installed, all I can say is WOW, she now really growls. Even when accelerating from 1st gear, the difference in feel is indescribable. She accelerates smoother and nicer and quicker, it's amazing. Granted a new O2 sensor was put in and I saw the old one and it was shot to death, but still the pipe just woke her up!
