928 RS Concept Sketch
#857
When I modified a 944, I drilled a hole thru the regulator base plate that the motor attaches to exposing the pinion gear. Then I lathed out a 1\2" crank stub and welded it right to the pinion gear, then tossed the worm drive and heavy motor.

That's the first time Astrid has sat in the driver's seat,
I keep asking her the drive it a little.
She says she is afraid she might hurt the car in some way.
She's a great driver, but a touch camera shy as you could probably tell.
She had many classics cars: Beatles, MGBs, 2002s and GTIs and modern Bimmers that were all 4 and 5 speeds.
But she prefers an automatic LR these days.
She would like an auto 928 though.
I would look for a 924 window crank for this.
No rush Shawn, as i said i'm a bit spent in this heat. Take care.

final RS post for a while
Throttle body idle switch was out of adjustment. Runs better now.
The car really pulls, handles and brakes beautifully.
Love it.
End.

You did a nice job with yours.
I was just commenting on the theory that doubling the air into the cylinder would theoretically double the HP but if not for the power required to run the supercharger itself.
Bill Miller Engineering's 14-71 superchargers making 60 psi boost while 50% over driven require between 900 and 1000 hp just to run the blower.
(This information is from Bill Miller himself)
The engines using his blowers make around 8000 hp.
Re '86 exhaust manifold install:
My exhaust now weighs 32 lbs total, 1 pound less than the rear muffler alone. '85-'86 manifolds to Y to straight 2.5" pipe with one 80 degree bend.
Noticed a difference in the way it revs when not under load, which felt better.
I think if i can get the back pressure just right it will run like a champ.
It runs very well at high rpm only, but is CRAZY loud. Low end is meh, needs back pressure i think.
A $3 exhaust adapter (label in pic) purchased at Autozone and a little heat and the Y fits better than it ever did.
Any advice to make it sound great while adding some needed back pressure is appreciated, experimenting with exhaust configurations can get expensive.

Not pretty any more..
Well it finally happened.
Went for a quick drive to the home supply
and left with my AC filter and BANG! Skidded to a halt.
The wiper mod cushioned the blow to the roof edge and windshield.
I should have made that HOOD PINS OK? sticker.
Live and learn.

Ouch! Thanks for showing the details to learn from, just like the rest of this thread.
Do you still like the power steering delete?

I was enjoying the car so much on the short drive.
Take care of yourself Bertrand,
Matt
Yes ouch and a real rush. Hard to see with the hood like that.
Now i can move the venting forward on the new hood and design the air collector (ram air) over the air box. Vents will be bigger too.
Google E30 BMW racers doing this same thing, same way. They believe it is good for somewhere btwn 3 and 7 HP.
I would guess more towards 3 but I don't have any data to back that up.
But i did read in Hot Rod recently regarding the new Nascar motor that GM engineers found just widening the alternator belt by a few mms for a higher
output alternator took away 5 HP, so who knows maybe it's closer to 5 HP with the PS delete.
Take care
