Matt, you're absolutely right in my book, very unprofessional not to answer an email, esp. one that is part of an ongoing conversation, within that amount of time. I certainly could never have made a career in sales doing that!

On another note, that's quite a tease there, that 914... Do we have another great saga to look forward to?

And if you do corner balance the car, post the before and after numbers, just for reference and interest.

Finish the car and maybe their or other magazine's interest will reignite. If not, at keast you have a finished project that doesn't need any explanations to what is left to do. Too bad they lost interest before the project was completed.

I was in the Motorcycle magazine business for 10 years. You would not believe the amount of submissions the editors get. Don't be disappointed if they do not get back to you. You did a fabulous job on your car, and you should be very pleased with the results. T

You can really see why a 928 is more rigid than a 911 of the same era.
I was admiring my RS's A pillar and by comparison
my '86 911's A pillar was a twig.
I know the 911 shell dates to the mid '60s
But what an improvement, and so advanced looking for the late '70s.

anyway,
I have everything back together, The RS is around 15 lbs lighter in the process of
extracting the condenser and removal of unnecessary metal tabs, delete dead pedal (will make my own) and other misc
that i missed the first go around. Replaced the foam HVAC flapper seals also. Took my time, pleased

Perlon is going in well. Looks great. Have some nice touches planned for the interior.

Making the RS door panels tomorrow. Really getting loads done now for some reason..

We're leaving for Turks and Caicos Saturday am very early.
The Kids are really excited.

I am pushing to complete the interior minus some of the gauges planned, new seats and Momo steering wheel.

I am adding back in comfort and using my o.e. door panels but deleting the heavy
arm support/pockets which saves 9 lbs. The cards are lite.

The interior will be 2 tone as navy blue Perlon or SliverKnit was NLA.

I am getting a lot done and will hopefully have the door panels on tomorrow.

Interior sensor has been replaced with a high oil temp warning light.

Detailing, detailing, the pedal cluster is gorgeous pic is lousy.

heavy carpeted dead pedal is gone, a nice aluminum one (like a 911) will
replace it. Boards are mounted up and to left out of the way.

I have other lite mat material to use but wanted to see the original carpets with
the Black Pelon,

The interior has a very relaxing quality now. I'm using navy leather in areas that are touched..

Ken, I think that would look great. See GT40 below) I like the horse shoes, hhmmm..

I was also contemplating the black with a thin orange lip.

It does need more accent orange. taking that part slow.

I think i'd like a black rocker graphic also, something to finish it off.

I actually like the way the '60s gulf blue Ford GT40s had FORD GT 40 spell very subtle on it's lower fender..may do something similar
and different from other race inspired P cars out there. I want to be original but good.

Door panels and cargo area today.

I will have to make a metal 'bezel' to secure the shift bellows. aluminum, painted satin black with black cap head screws.

I'd like the interior stuff complete as i would like to get to the revised exhaust and suspension work,
which i am looking forward to.

Any noticiable noise reduction with the carpet?

Wish I had time to graft on a GT40 front nose to the 928. It has the exact same width as the 928 front end.

I would guess noise will be down a lot, speaking of "luxury"

trims for door openings are in..

i am going with the ribbed but plush / rubber backed & (1/2 the weight of the original mats) mat material i found at LOWES. It's very soft, durable and 1/2 the weight as i mentioned already. 'Goes' better than the blue original mats.
The ribbing recalls the RSR mats but will be
quiet and comfortable on my soft-supple feet. It has a little grey in it which will hide dust. The Perlon shows everything. I will be vacuuming a lot.

Leaving the wood CE panel covering exposed (another 911RSR 2.8 look) is also
reminder (to me) that this is a REAL PORSCHE from the good old days!!

I made luan replacements for battery (small batt now) area and spare wheel well. The battery lid looks to be the same gauge as the lids used during the War in the Sherman tanks. Heavy sucker.

Since all metal tabs have been removed for weight savings the battery box lid
fits by interference, and well. I lucked out on the first fitting.

Wood is good because it is lite.

Probably why Porsche used it as passenger side
foot rest/CE panel cover.

I matched the CE panel cover finish with black oil paint by removing the excess with a cloth. Had a feeling it would match.

Probably how Porsche did it, dries quickly this way and lessons the amount of paint needed.

As many know our 1/4 trims hide wiring,

i will not be using them they are very heavy.

I will be covering my 1/4 trims with Perlon but will have to sew up an
enclosure (small Perlon rectangular box) to encase these wires on both sides.

If anyone has a better solution please advise.

When i had time in the upcoming cold months i will pant the hatch area metal gulf blue.

Looking great. You might be able to hid the wiring under carpet that has a velcro edge for future access.
