Yes that would account for a bit of weight. But for my purposes i don't need more brakes they are very good.
I could use more rubber out back though especially on take off.

No drilling of sheet metal at all except my hatch which made me think
how nice a product a fiberglass/lexan hatch with built in spoiler would be.

More weight reduction could be found by:
Replacing battery with much smaller or Optima
Replace heavy factory steering wheel with a MOMO Prototypo
Drill clutch and brake pedals and other items
Removal of more sound deadening that i lost steam on.
Lighter seats, which will be easy.

there's more, would be nice to remove another 80 lbs and then make the interior real cozy and nice but light.

I mentioned that because I had one, and it was light - and felt like it. But was also not as stable as the 928.

So I am imagining the cool factor of a lighter 928 with the more stable character.

The door panels are not bad.... The rear quarter interior panels are heavy. The sunroof stuff is heavy, and the front headlight assembly is hanging right on the front of the car.

After where you are, I see alot more work and money to get much much lower. One guy I heard about started shortening bolts. Sounds iffy.

Lighter wheels I suppose. HVAC box is heavy, but needed.

You can get 50 pounds lighter with better seats.

I personally lost 55 pounds, but I wouldn't suggest the manner in which I did it. LOL.

I forgot about that hatch. You are getting to the point of unbalancing the 50/50. Maybe think of what to RE-locate now. Just a suggestion.

The hatch - would be great to have one in fiber with the window flush.

It would be, I would like to try it one day. I still have those heavy quarter trim pieces btw BC.

I cannot be sure but front to rear weight bias seems on par with what i started with.
I did remove a lot of weight up front (lightened the hood hinges, lightened the headlamp lift tube and levers, AC delete, washer & accessories, cruise conrol was a heavy item, carbon canister, belt driven fan, air pump (even trimmed off the air pump alum. bracket) 1 wiper deleted plus wiper washer res and plumbing to headlamp sprayers and the list goes on up front.

Toward the rear i lightened the rear bumper much more than i posted, bumperettes are gone, the exhaust is gone, smaller battery but could be smaller, battery cover delete, some more stuff of course.

But I would say more weight came away from the front half of the car. Handling is very neutral and very precise. I think i could get very good at driving this car fast with more rubber.

I can start off slow in 1st and then goose it and both rears just rip and tear at the smooth dry pavement, so for faster starts i need wider wheels and stickier rubber. Hopefully lighter wheels too. The wheels aren't very light but i like them.

This will make a great driver event car.

I looked at what you've got and if you did, you'd have a rocket sled in the garage.

FWIW, Mark's steamroller wheels and tires are ~42 lbs/corner. Less than any stock wheel/tire combo I've ever weighed (never weighed PD's...)

In comparison, a 225/17 Cup1 with PS2- 44 lb 2 oz
Cup1 rear (255/17) with PS2- 48 lb 14 oz

FWIW, a complete heater core/box is 17 lbs 4 oz. Probably worth it to be able to defrost when needed.

Matt, if you ever need/want pics of whatever lengths Mark went to for weight reduction, just yell. Have camera, will travel (to the garage..)

Yehbut- anyone that has never picked up a completely trimmed out, stock 928 door really owes it to themselves to try. They must be 60 pounds a piece. (Will weigh one next time I'm at 928Intl...) Can't remember what trimming you did to the doors, but Mark's only weigh 4 lbs each, now.

Thank you. I appreciate the weights, i will weigh the PDs to have that comparison.

I didn't cut anything but removed central locking, side impact reinforcement bars (very heavy) glass and mechanism/track and motor , wiring etc. The doors are nice and light as you said without all the crap.

This is what a Porsche is supposed to be in my opinion, but it's a balancing act not to make junk out of your car. I need to get the interior details right to really enjoy it.

I spoke via email to Pete Stout today, and he's excited about the weight too but I told him the car is not ready for Panorama as this point. Much to do with the door lexan details and panels and i have very limited time now with work and Family.

Anyway Rob, good luck getting the Zombie up and running,

I was wondering now that the Zombie is yours, any plans to paint it something different but race inspired like coral red or an early Porsche green?

I am searching for raw perlon in navy blue, i have a feeling i may be going with grey or black though because it doesn't seem available. Contacted merchants on ebay like this one and inquired about doing a lightweight RS kit for my 928. Haven't heard back yet.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-911-...6b6406&vxp=mtr

Any ideas anyone on where to find raw navy blue perlon?
Interior needs a lot of help-Matt

Have you talked to Rob Budd at the Classic 9 Leather shop? He can get a WIDE variety of materials that might be better suited for you and he should be able to get it cut to your requirements too.

What springs did you use? Your car is very low though, for the roads in my area.
I like that i'm not bottoming out anymore backing out of my shop. Thanks James

I contacted him a while ago for blue/black pascha and the carpet and he said he did not have either. I will try him again. Thanks

You need to fill the lettering on the rear. Maybe orange?
