Default 928 Function at the Junction

The 928 Function for July 4-7 that was going to be an OCIC is now an open Function for all 928 enthusiasts. It still includes some 928 cruises, a public car show and meals together, much in the nature of a three to four day 928 Convention.

Attached is the overall posture of the conference, now billed as "928 Function at the Junction." Also attached is the Registration Form to print, fill out, and mail with your check or you can PayPal your registration fees to my email.

jfeather@bresnan.net

Another choice is to send me your email and I will send you the registration form in a format that you can fill out on your computer and return by email. Again, your payment can be by check or Paypal as above.

The information is in the attachments, but here is the telephone number for the Clarion Inn to call for your hotel reservation. Call now to become part of the block of rooms set aside for this conference. (970) 243-6790. The block of rooms is available starting the night of July 3rd for those who are able to travel a little early.

That is definitely a part of the country I would like to see, but it's just not in the cards for me this year.

So, let's see a show of "Hands". Who is planning on going to, The Function in the Junction, in Colorado over the 4th of July weekend?

I'll start it off by saying, "Why yes, I'll certainly be there!"

I have finalized the graphic for the commorative T-shirt that I am going to have made for the Function and will be ordering some of them for sale at about my cost to the participants in the event. It will be helpful to know just who is coming so I can decide how many to order.

I have also finally obtained a mailing list of the local/regional hot rod and custom car folks who might be interested in participating in the INDEPENDENCE ONE fisrt annual car show to be held on Saturday July 6th and which will of course feature the Porsche 928 as the Feature Marque. All of us in the Function will be in the show at no extra charge, and lunch will be provided by the Co-sponsor of the Show, Taste of Heaven Catering which is also the location of the Show.

I hope more of you will call the Clarion Inn to make your room reservation. The number is (970) 243 6790. Call now and tell them you are with the 928 Function and you will be given the special rate of $79 (plus taxes).

Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like any recommendations about how to get here through the mountains, or otherwise.

I just noticed that when this event was changed from a "members only" OCIC to an open function for all 928 comers I neglected to change the title on the Registration form. I will make that change and post a link to the corrected version on Monday. Those who have used the present form need not register again, however. The information is still the same. I hope the mistake did not create some confusion about the nature of this 928 Function at the Junction.

Call the Hotel now. (970) 243-6790. Tell them you are with the 928 Function.

I have the details for the Colorado National Monument tour and Poker Run nearly complete and that looks like it will be a lot of fun and interesting for Friday Morning.

I thought for a bit that the Car Show was in question, but that is also taking shape nicely. I just sent out the invitaions to over 400 local/regional car guys with rods, customs, and other show cars and hope to have at least 75 to 100 of them respond to participate. It was like pulling teeth to get the mailing list for all of them, but I finally found it late last week.

I think we will be doing the Mystery Paleontology Expedition only on Friday afternoon since not everyone is going to get here early enough on Thursday to do it then, and too, there are not enough pre-registered to justify the need to do it twice. That means Friday afternoon may be a choice between the Expediton and a cruise to Gateway for lunch and the Auto Museum there. It also means that Thursday afternoon is open to do the local Auto Museum for those who get here early enough.

I have also moved the Coctail Party to Friday evening, and it is going to be a BBB = Burgers, Brats and Beer at my place with a cookout on my deck and around here. Maybe we can get a look at some of Jerry's mess, er, creations. There will also be some wine and even some of the hard stuff for those so inclined. Don't worry, my place is only about a mile from the Hotel so driving there on the back road will not be too much of a concern.

The window of opportunity is coming to a close in about a week in regard to the block of rooms at the Clarion Inn. Now is the time to call for your room reservation and for the special room rate we have set up for this Function. Don't put it off any longer. I'm not sure how much flexibility there is going to be to have an extension on the block and rate after the two-weeks-before-the-Function cut off.
