I thought it was less?
Those SS 85/6 pipes cost me $185 and I thought I overpaid.
Exhaust shop adapted the cats by lopping off the flange on the short side, then inserting a piece of tube and stitching it all back together. Total cost was $315 including pipes.
Threw the MSDS in the trash.

What kind of adapter is needed? Just an extension tube that can be mated to the original exhaust or is there any tube bending needed?

Don't buy the prefab'ed adapter, it doesn't work (at least it didn't on my car). I adapted mine by cutting the flange off the one side, installing both the flange and the Y pipe, and then fitting in a piece between the two. Pretty easy.

Same here, no way adapter was going to work.
You want the downpipes to align with the ends of the 85/6 manifold pipes without having to put them in a stress mode due to construction of the manifold pipes (dual wall, metal bellows for expansion)
Maybe earliest cars are different, I don't know.

New design with Merged Collectors
The new design from MSDS with merged collectors has arrived here for our testing.
We will be installing them on an engine soon, and testing fitment and compatibility with our Header-X pipe. Then dyno.
It's hard to get a picture of the inside of the collector, but there is a proper 4-sided cone in the center.
Note the tack-welds. This is a prototype set, here for fitment tests. The tack welds allow us to cut the weld and reposition the pipe before we send them back.
Think before you order up the OBX headers with straight collectors. These headers with merged collectors will out-perform them!

I skimmed through all the post, did anyone actually install these headers on their vehicle? Also did someone mention they where made in China? I am kind of curious on how these headers would perform in the long run / high use. Due to the lack of knowledge on metallurgy, under trained / under paid employees, and low resources in China I believe this product contains contaminants in the metal that can cause it to rust or crack. I could also be completely wrong.
