if you have an X pipe and GT resonators and an RMB it will be NASCAR loud
Same setup with S4 resonators its still loud but not as loud as the GT resonators.

Best setup IMHO is X pipe, GT resonators, and GT muffler

On MY89 it really sounds just right (no other mods). I was absent of any V8 sound at startup it really makes a difference versus the original muffler. I ran into a friend recently who is critical about everything. It was the first time he had seen the 928 upon start-up he did a double take. I take that as a compliment. I'd recommend it!

Everybody has their own standards, but the _general_ feeling is that a RMB with otherwise stock exhaust ( factory cats, no x-pipe and mid resonators) has a rather pleasant low rumble.
Then add and of these factors and it gets progressively less louder and maybe more unpleasant to varying degrees:
GT ( small ) resonators
Cat Delete
X-pipe

I have RMBs with both large(86.5) resonators and small (89), and I'd say it's LOUD, almost too loud for me on the 89, but with the large resonators, it's real nice, even with an X-pipe. The 89 has everything else stock and drones pretty bad on the highway.

I need this RMB for the 87 5 speed which has large resonators and is completely stock (too quite).

My 89, deleted cats, I think its the small resonators but not sure, RMB.
I find that it is awesome up to 1/2 throttle, not even much louder, and its even better at wide open except when wide open any cop with in two blocks with his window down, is listening to you.
Wide open at 5g is teenager loud he he he yahhhhhhh
