Default Does anybody know what this is?

With all the smart people here Porsche should hire most of you as consultants. Enclosed is a picture of a connector or test port on the right side of the engine ( drivers side) at the back to the left of the master cylinder. I am having more fun with the 928 working the bugs out then the all the fun I had with my 996 I purchased so many years back or the Maserati after that Note: (If you really, really like wasting money Maserati is the car to own )There is a lot of enjoyment in buying a car that looks local car show ready car.... with tons of things not working as were the PO gave up, sold cheap ( Like new HDTV cheap) then fixing those issues one at a time. Thanks for the help

Looks like the O2 sensor plug.
Could you take a pic that is not so close so we can see its location?

That is the unused test port for RPMs that is normally mounted at the rear of the driver side fuel rail. It actually sometimes has a cap that keeps the sand , dirt , and crap out of the pins.

Thats a connector for the RPM sensor,
it was used at the dealer to check the RPM while being serviced.
There are 2 crank position sensors this one is for service diagnostics only ,
the other CPS sensor is used for sending a signal to the computer, so to run the ignition/injection system

I can confirm MrMerlin's response. This is indeed the RPM sensor. You can follow the wire back to the top of the bellhousing

Thanks, I've always wondered what that was for. Heard chat that is was something used in the factory for calibration of something. I wonder what's the last time anyone has actually ever used it for something?
