Andy, great job and great performance. It takes courage to hit those kinds of speeds. I would love to do something like this. I noticed something on my 87... with selector in 2, from stop I can floor it and keep it there and it will shift to 2nd at redline- without moving the shifter. Usually I keep my foot in it and forget to shift from 2-3 and then it will not shift from 2-3, and I bounce off the rev limiter. Done it twice. Is this normal? Now I shift from 2-3 to avoid the rev limit. Anyways, I love the auto (usually not a fan) and when set up right they are potent performers for the era. New autos (i.e. DSG) are really impressive.

Chalkboss....you are local to me!!!! your car is performing exactly as it should....100% normal.....

You should come out with us to the track in the future......you can't appreciate a 928 to you can drive it on a track......its addicting

That is SERIOUS speed Andy! Congrats!! I have yet to make a trip down to the Texas Mile. One of these days I'll have to make that trip.

Andy,
I believe you posted that the front end of the car felt light at speed. Just out of curiosity, do you have the full belly pan complement installed?

Weren't the belly pans designed for aerodynamics benefit as well as protection?
I just wonder if the addition of the small rear belly pan would make any difference in the aerodynamics to keep the 928 firmly anchored to the "road"?

My '92 didn't feel particularly light doing 165 on the A-95 in Germany and that was going around sweepers (more like CORNERS above 150!) So, not sure why yours would feel light up front. Perhaps to much air in the front tires... that might make it a bit more floaty because they are offering less resistance... Just speculation.

Looks like fun. Reminds me of the top gear episode where they stick a bunch of cardboard on the front of an srt challenger to hit 150-60 can't remember.

15+ years ago in the annual "bang for the buck" contest in Motor Trend they had a minimum speed entry of 150mph.

The Mustang GT came up like 6-7mph short. They covered the car in duct tape and cardboard, which was enough to pass 150mph.

No they didn't allow it in the contest, they were just making a point.
