I'm sure I could get my dad to drive it from KS to NV for you. He'd be in the right lane, just under the speed limit, the whole way, guaranteed.

lots of 911, ctsv and heavily modded gm products. over 200 cars in all!!

I arrived and teched on thursday and friday started with wind in our face and a steep learning curve on shifting an automatic manually to get the best accelleration. I found the car wont upshift when wot even when I think I am telling it to by moving the shifter from 2 to 3 . It wont shift to 3 until redline....duh!!!

any way I found if I put it in drive and floor it to wot it will hold to redline in all gears...way more efficient than I ever could have done....and what a suprise I got.

this roger box is kick *** with wot.

friday and saturday we had wind in our face and high of 85 degrees...not good for top speed at the end of a mile. then on sunday we were all out for a cold snap of 58 degrees and wind to our backs..I made 2 final runs after a steep learning curve friday and saturday.....first was 166.9 and last the pic below....

The last speed was way elevated because I got a kick in the pants on the run from a big wind gust at the end....so I claim only the 166.9 mph!! and running my 6.4 l , ITB with cams and headers.

great group of people and awesome cars.... I think a ford gt 40 ran 267 mph....

more than a few had major engine trouble! mostly gm products.

thanks for reading and I hope I can get a group together for next yr to meet in Beeville texas for another texas mile event.....
Sounds like a good weekend. Nice job!

Quite a bit of "adjusting" to get that transmission to shift at redline. I had the pan off so many times I was thinking about getting some wingnuts and studs..... talk about a "learning curve".

When I started adjusting on it, it shifted at about 5,200.

you would have gotten a good laugh watching me, wot , trying to manually shift before redline........I had to take my foot off the gas a second to make it upshift......then I remembered at the end of a run what you had said....!!!!

Andy
Take a look at the Mojave Mile

http://mojavemile.com/

North east of LA.....ship the car to LA (Doc Brown maybe)....and tow or drive up from there....if something breaks its not that far for someone from LA to come save you..... its only 147 miles from Anaheim......(within AAA tow distance)...

Another option....I'd love to go there with you.....ship to my house and we can tow with my truck...but its 320 miles each way

Oct 12-13 2013

While my car doesn't have anywhere near the power to do this....it would be fun....but I doubt I could even hit 140mph.......But Seans 500whp supercharged beast would be fun?

Way too much fun!

Great job! Just flipped through some of the u-tube videos hoping someone might have posted one of your runs but didn't see it. There is one though of the Ford GT you mentioned with its 267.6 run. What a rocket. Again, great job to you and Greg!

One of Norwood's Ferarri salt flat spin Dr's often lost traction at 270mph.... hence the name spin Dr'. There was one instance where traction was lost at 320 mph and a recovered spin resulted in yet another speed record... I wasn't there but I did wash out the trailer after it returned from the salt flats... there was a ton of salt, and then there was this rush of brown material..... I was told it was the driver "result" meaning bowel movements that was released into the chassis...

How quick/good/lucky (pick one) do you have to be to "recover" a spin at 320mph?

Recovering from wheel spin is quite different than recovering from a vehicle spin (most often resulting in flip & roll -which is not recoverable). BTW, is this you Sterling (sg=Sterling Gee)?
