Nobody has tested if 23 years old airbags would still do that.

In fact in my 2001 Audi it actually says replace the airbags after 15 years...

It is a matter of diminishing returns, though. I agree 100% with side air bags, but front air bags only add life saving qualities in a very small range beyond what seat belts do. What are the odds that you need that in your lifetime?

I am a believer that when your time is up, it is up.

928 sport steering wheel and dump the air bag. Air bags are safer but probably more important in a DD that is driven a lot of miles vs a weekend fun car. Great car for the money and I hope it goes to a good home.

Not sure how you picked that number...

I "had" it figured at around 35K, with all the work and the attention to details.

This is a bargain.

GLWS Rob. And don't take a penny less than your asking price.

The negotiation should work like this:

you: it's $22,000 not a penny less.
buyer: will you take 20?
you: it's $24,000
buyer: uhh... 21?
you: it's $23,000

Well, we'll see whether $22K is a bargain or not. I think it is, but will let the market speak. If it sells tomorrow, I priced it too low. For better or worse, for all its imperfections Ebay is really the only convenient arbiter of market value. I'd love to run it across the stage at Barrett Jackson, but the costs of that transaction are a _bit_ higher than the Ebay fees.

Dave, I like your bargaining plan, Don't worry, the price is $22K, nothing less. I'm a lousy negotiator.

For a GT, the work done and the condition .... $22K is more than fair.

BTW - Barrett-Jackson is NOT a good venue for Porsches ...

116k well maintained miles over 23 years is average use to the cognoscenti.

I would love to own your car at $22,000, or the price of a well used Camry.

I hope you wait for your price.

Hello Rob,
Knowing the thoughtful, meticulous detail that went into sorting your GT makes it an excellent deal! Hope you get every penny. GLWS!

There's no question that the airbags in the 1990 models have "issues". I have seen so many problems, with this "early" system, that I simply would not be able to "trust" it. I certainly would not depend on it to "save" my life. The 1991 (late 1991?) system, with the "944" control module and the separate wiring looms to the control module and the sensors is far, far, far superior.

If I owned a 1990 vehicle, this would be one of the first things on my list to replace....if it hasn't already been done....even though the pieces are extremely pricey.

If a Toyota Camery sells for 22 grand used. Cars like Rob's , should be going in the 50's. This is cause the lawnmower 911 owners are such bitches.
