Does this fill tube exist on 86.5 cars? I redid my trans cooler lines last and have the same item with the ball bearing as you describe.
Didn't know what it was for at the time and almost lost the ball bearing. I only learned the ball bearing existed when I discovered it by chance in the kiddie pool of trans fluid under the car

If my car has this filling feature, it would be good to know. Filling from the cap is a PITA.

Luckily, I was able to figure out where it goes from the PET diagram, so it went back to its proper location safe and sound.

Greg, I take drug holidays on the weekends, helps me get my compulsive on. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I will confess that at one point I ran a complete 928 tool availability check through Sunset, and the coupler was only $11 Figuured it might come into handy at a local GTG or clinic someday. But alas, they were NLA....

The quick fill coupler was part of the changes for 1986. See clip from the 1986 service Info Tech booklet below. I think it is a standard metric quick coupler but I haven't been able to locate anyone in the states that carries metric couplers.

Thanks to Steven to post the original question, and to Greg (and Rob for posting the pictures) for keeping us - RogerBox addicts
- informed about how this should be done the correct & easy way.
The RogerBox ATF flush is due on my car soon (as part of my winter maintenance "to do" list), hence I learned something today.
Mike and others: I will have a look around in the days to come in our local DIY shops for a possible standard metric quick coupler and post back in this thread if I find something, so your posted above information is very clear on what is needs it to be - thanks for that!

So the ball bearing is held in place by the end cap on the horizontal part of the fill adaptor ?
How much pressure is needed to be able to pump fluid into the 'box past this spring ball valve ?

The fill adapter is a male quick connector similar to that used for compressed air or hydraulic lines. The ball is inside the connector. The cap just seals the end of the connector and protects it. There was no spring in mine when I had it off to do my TT/Trans refresh last summer.
I'm not sure what the pressure is on that line but it can't be much if Greg is able to fill by removing the protective cap and push a rubber hose over the coupler.

The ball bearing doesn't seal this thing very well. It will drip. Only seals enough so that gross amounts of fluid do not pour out, when the cover piece is removed. The cover and the aluminum washer at the junction between the cover and the filler tube are what really seals this thing from leaking.

Last item, page 138. The dimensions seem to mimic those in the diagram Mike posted. Now all we need is someone in Germany to find a local source.

Thanks Rob, for posting about those (2) European providers of the exact item - good finds.
In the meantime, please see underneath a picture of a 6mm and 12mm standard quick connector as used for compressed air or hydraulic lines in Europe - as I bought in a local Finnish DIY store (only a few €/$ each).
As I am currently hugely swamped with work, it will only be earliest upcoming weekend that I can check if that fits or not...
