The 944 cam gear is 40T, coincidentally what the LS PCM requires for VSS signal.

I just cut the middle out the 944 cam gear to fit over the rear axle cv (8mm holes on 86mm PCD) Then made a braket for the GM VSS sensor. Works perfect. I'll develop one for the 928 as it's CV's are 10mm holes on 94mm PCD.

Rob,

Do you have a suitable ring for the 928 manual transmission? I believe the GM ECU looks for 17 pulses for that one (40 for automatic). Or will this work for either transmission? Excellent work and ingenuity!

Cheers!

This will work on either 928 transmissions as they both use 930 cv's. Looks like the differential shaft carriers are perfect for bracket placement.

Thanks John, I'll compare and calc. If adapter will be same between auto and manual torque tubes.

Perfect also for providing a signal to the ABS (though more teeth) when the car getting the ABS is not specifically an ABS car or the hubs are not. I have a 78 with ABS hubs in front but early hubs at the back - and I wanted ABS. You can use the same signal or add a second sensor for VSS.

How many teeth are needed for the rear ABS signal?
Some hybriders have used a motorcycle sprocket with center cut for the CV mount as well.
Dinsdale will be working on running the 928 engine on the LS computer.Same idea there.

Why not just make a ring and press fit it on the CV flange? No need to remove or bolt it. One could tack weld it if they were truly worried

Early ABS tooth count is 90.
Later is 45.

Later means beginning for 86.5, at least for USA market cars.

You asked about back, but here's a picture of fronts just for visualization purposes.

45T is a very common rear sprocket on bikes. So mounting the later ABS sensor to a modded sprocket would be an easy soln.
