Somber mood at Precision Motorwerks today, sad to hear about GN. It's amazing how much you can feel the loss of someone you never actually met in person, from 2500 miles away. Godspeed, Greg.

After I finally got my car together I couldn't get it to run right. I got up the nerve to ask Greg about it at SITM a couple of years ago and he kinda gruffly told me to only use the correct factory parts then go from there. It was sage advice that led me to getting the correct fuel distrib. and solving my mysterious running problem. I knew who he was and sought out his opinion and he helped me when I needed it. Gunar

I'm very sorry to hear this. Greg's posts were always interesting, clearly showing his deep knowledge and passion for the 928. The forum has lost a great contributor. Rest in peace. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Never knew Greg Nettles or had any exchanges with him that I recall, but the news of his loss affected me today as I was fully aware that he was a well-respected, knowledgeable contributor here.

Nooooo....i am very sad to hear this.
Greg was the first rennlister I met in person and was someone I immediately liked and respected. He really made me feel like I had a made a long time friend when I saw him even though we had only known each other a short time. Greg will be remembered fondly and missed sorely. We will raise a shot of tequila in his memory today and at the next SITM. We will miss you Greg !!!

Wow, what a shock. This happens way to often here in the 928 forum it seems. My condolences to the family and friends who will certainly miss him. He will be missed here for sure.

Oh my. What a loss to the community and to those of us that crossed paths with this honest gentleman. Greg was the genuine article and was not one to mince words... not something you find often. He'd go well out of his way to help a brother with nothing expected in return.
Greg and I first met at the 3rd Coast 10th anniversary event in 2010. Since we were heading home about the same time, we decided to join up for the drive back east. Somewhere in Mississippi, I got a TB light, so we throttled back and discussed my options. Greg strongly suggested that I follow him to his place south of Atlanta, we'd take the car to his shop, I'd spend the night at his house and we'd check it out in the AM.
I decided to take him up on his offer. In the AM, we headed to the shop. His mechanic, Mike, had already opened things up and was ready to check it out. After some tightening and a tensioner refill, I headed east to VA.
Greg would not accept a dime for the service. He told me that if I wanted to pay something, to give it to Mike, so I did.
We had just met that weekend, and except for our lengthy conversations at the event (about world issues, cars and flying), I didn't know this guy from Adam, nor did he know me well. But he offered his expertise and opened his home to me. I had the pleasure of meeting Helen and his many dogs and cats.
We kept in touch via email and our chats at SITM, so although we didn't see each other that often, I consider him a true friend and always felt that I owed him one... still do.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
RIP, my friend.
