That's not it. The marketing department told them they had really wanted "a car with an electric engine," not an "electric car with a gasoline engine."

Credit goes to Wally for the "electric car with a gasoline engine" quote.

Corollary: The drivers airbag sensor was suspended from a fishing line in the development lab, and the car was then assembled around it.

A devestating torque -vs- horsepower argument, in which the resulting gunfire killed the guy responsible for wiring CE panels.

Truth is , the factory was all ready for production on the 1996 year model, but they heard that Chuck Scheiber wanted to change the ride height and they were waiting on the specifications from him.

It was pure internal politics with the change in leadership in I think 89 the 928 was killed and it just took another 5 years for them to empty the pipelines.

ah yes Lucas prince of darkness

Given the worldwide copper shortage of 96 and inflated wiring prices Porsche could no longer make wiring looms afordable........that and the scarcity of aforementioned relays and the electric car was given the last rites.

Further proof is evident today with all the V8 Porsche models coming out.......did you see the 918 spyder?

Because the Porsche execs wanted 6 in the back and didn't care for 8 in the front... And OBD2.
