Painted front hubs a no-no?

I spent a few hours cleaning my front hubs and painting them while doing new front shocks and wheel bearings. While running a 50 mile (settle it) I noticed my antilock light come on. I shut it down and restarted it and it comes on again.
Did I paint the pick-ups for the speed sensors on these front hubs? I thought I saw 4 or 5 tabs of a different metal on the outside edge on the inner part of the hub. Anybody spend 3-4 hours cleaning their hubs for paint only to experience this?
Thanks
Thomas

I've had the outter portion of my front hubs painted for years now with no adverse effects. BUT, not the inside of the hubs! If you painted the inside, well it's time to get the paint stripper out.

That ring is the toothed one I take it. I thought I saw 4-5 pads in the casting of the hub that appeared to be possibly magnets for the sensor to read.
Maybe I should ask it this way. Does the toothed ring get read by the sensor sticking through the backing plate?

I would not think that little bit of paint would ever make any difference on a street car and painted hubs look good. With my twists you can really see them. I would strip the inside if you painted that but leave the outside alone. By the way, those wheels are a good choice for a white car.

Faint induction pulse is sensed when magnetic sensor reads the passing of a steel tooth. Paint would interfere.
Zoom in, here's an S4 antilock sensor positioned near the toothed hub at 2 o'clock.
One can just barely see a few teeth.
And another picture that shows early 90 tooth vs later 45 toothed S4 hubs.
And a third picture showing in installed 90 tooth hub and sensor.

only when the car moves, I might have forgot to attach the ground wire on the shock tower. I believe there is one in that location.
Landseer,
Thank you for the pictures and I did not paint the toothed ring so that would not effect my problem.
