awesome pictures guys! (including the drain areas)

I purchased a grinding kit yesterday. The bolt extractor mentioned from Brett, i did not think i had enough meat to connect to the bolt head. I don't own a set but its worth a try before grinding the head off. I'm heading to lowes in a few minutes.

regards the star bit, a 12 point i was using. I p/u a set from Autozone.

I have a set of Craftsman bolt-outs that I've never used if you want to give them a try.

Thanks Kurt for your offer, but i was able to get the kit from Advanced Auto, which Brett had proposed.

I have good news, after two attempts at the stripped bolt head. The Grip tool worked! I was trully amazed how well it worked.

I went ahead and p/u another set of bits to finish up the job.

My next attempt on the remaining bolts, i will throughly clean each bolt head and will do my best of wake each bolt.

Anyways, thanks Brett!!

Can these be replaced with standard allen head screws?

On the early 32Vs, those bolts are standard allen heads.

I bought the Autocraft bits too but they were too long.

Titan makes a stubby triple square set that includes a low profile M8 bit that worked really well for me.

you might want to heat that as well and give it a good smack with a hammer. A manual impact driver might be a good idea too. If not for that one, at least for the rest of them. I found the Advanced Auto triple square bits to be of low quality. I bought a Hazet bit on advice from Greg Brown.

I personally would not use that 12 point tool, their too soft and change shape. The trick is to make sure the bolt head is clean of any oil or sludge so that the tool seats in there properly, you can use a small hammer with light blows to make sure the 12 point tool is seated all the way in. I would also use a 24 inch or longer breaker bar to undo them. Give a quick blow to the end and they should come loose. I know Greg Nettles used air impact gun to undo them.

I used these guys for the 12 point tool, very well built....

I wouldn't recommend heating it as it's the inside piece and will expand. Chilling it wouldn't hurt though.

My kids go back to school after today, so its back to working on the Porsche on Tuesday. I would like to have all of the bolt heads removed by Wednesday or earlier.

The manual impact driver would be great for most of the 12 point bolts, and future brake jobs. I need to make a run to the auto store again.

The driver bits from Samstags. I was somewhat shocked on the price. I am sure they are one of the best but i can't see myself spending $30-400 dollars on a bit or bit set.

In regards the bit sets i have purchased from Autozone and Advanced auto. Yes i did notice they were very weak and very long (3-4 inches).

I like the amazon set, not a bad price.

For now, i am going to invest time on cleaning all of the bolt heads thoroughly and use the tools i had purchased. I will wake each bolt head up and see what happens. I was using a ratchet with an extension and did not see good results when trying to remove the 12 point bolts. The breaker bar i used seem to work better and smoother.

I would really like manual impact tool, need to head to the store soon.

Don't go too cheap on the manual impact tool.

The one on the left only lasted a couple whacks (although HF did replace for free). The one on the right took a good pounding no problem.

This one sucks:

This one might be okay:

This one on sale for $21 should last you a life time:
