Default quick help?

Hey guys so as u know my car is in shop getting new Upolstery, carpet seats ect. The guy called me saying the seat will not move back and forth but up and down work. I told him I belive there is a screw (alen wrench bolt) and to manually move the seat, and he said "That was the problem, the bolt had a plastic gear & it was stripped & bound up on the inside."
What dose he mean by that and if I could get a new gear or part were about can I get one? Thanks

928 International would be my guess. I'd say to call them and tell them just what you said here and they'll tell you what you need.

All those plastic bits are 25 years old now and the lube has turned into glue. If you force it, it will definitely break. Best plan for the seat gears, the sunroof motor and the window crank gears is to disassemble, clean all the old (hardened) grease and re-lube them before they bind and then break.

Thats been the answer most of yer threads. Write it down like this:

"Call the 928 vendors for 928 parts".

Refer to it often. (and first)

Rick, If there's a squiggly under a word it's misspelled. Old people like good spelling and they know the most.

You need a PET program. That's the electronic catalog of Porsche parts. It has got good diagrams of almost every assembly in the car. Then you can figure out what's busted and what part number you need. Stick the part number into google and it'll make hits at vendors.

I like 928 International. Bookmark them and stick the part number into their search box. It'll hit and you'll be a couple of clicks from ordering.

I'll also check eBay for the parts. Most sellers list the part numbers. The prices can be good but the quality and warranties are suspect. Gives options.

Another tip:

Click "UserCP" and then "Edit Ignore List." Add all the people who annoy you. There's plenty of people who won't be on the list and the ones that are annoying won't post anything of value anyways.

If you misspell the words too much where even the phone doesn't know what you're trying to say, how do you expect us to know?
Please proofread prior to hitting the submit button.

Now that said. It is likely the switch. If the can see the gear is mangled, which it likely is, the can see the motor and the two electrical connectors on it. Just pull those off and jumper those two posts to a battery. One to negative one to positive it will move the seat forward and backwards.

While good spelling is desireable, I had no problem figuring out what the guy was asking. Let's realize he was looking for help. I've been told more than once that was the reason for this forum.

While we could understand he needs help, deciphering what help he needs is a whole nother ball game.

You also likely missed the thread where he said if he couldn't fix it within 30 min he'd scrap the car.
