We are near the Luton airport just south of HOUSTON TEXAS! The 1UZ engine is very easy to make big power with , and is very inexpensive. All the UZ engines will fit our Toyota adapter. [ V12 1GZ also] We can hook it up to a Vette or a 928 trans. Just Shake and Bake.

Well that was misleading. You have a pic of a landmark in england and then the location says "Luton"

Since I am in California, I want to have a set-up that will be smog legal. Is it possible to have a C6 Z06 engine and drivetrain fitted in a 928 with all the smog equipment?

There are always some that want to argue that "it can't be done". All it takes is the desire to make it happen and then actually execute it. The naysayers never tried to make it happen but will say it can't.
WELL DONE SIR and thanks for putting in the effort. If you need a track car guinea pig, I am your man! And if you need production parts made we are a full service laser cutting job shop and are prototype friendly.

I don't think I've heard folks say it can't be done.... it's more of a "can it be done cost effectively.".. Throw money at a problem and you'll eventually have a solution....but how long do you throw money at it?... I hope this one is reasonably priced...but seeing the custom fab stuff...I'm betting it's not going to be cheap... (I know cheap is relative..and I'm a cheap ole bastard )...

I've always loved the 928s, and have had several, including a manual trans '85 Euro. I understand the obesssion to constantly tweek & improve them, and really admire some of the stuff that I see here. I'd even be interested in converting an auto into a manual (even with this 6-speed swap), since it's getting difficult to find nice clean cars. But at what point does a guy say "stop"? Engine & trans swap is basically building a street-rod. You might as well be swapping the drivetrain into a Jeep, El Camino, or '39 Ford.
Far be it for me to tell someone that they shouldn't turn their 928 into a Corvette, but a big part of me wonders why it's so important to have that level of performance in a 928. Well, no... I understand the desire for the performance, but there's the law of diminishing returns (at least for the guys who can't build a car like that themselves), and is a 928 really still a 928 with a full transplant, or is it just a Corvette with a German body?
I'm just thinking outloud here... don't mind me.
Love the creativity that is seen here. 928 guys have always been the more innovative Porsche fans.
Would someone please give me a ride in their Chevorsche? Seriously.

6sp conversion we have been looking locally to do for past several years would use stock 2.54:1 automatic diff and thus would allow PSD to remain in use. Sadly there has been way too many other projects ongoing for this to ever get very far. Chevy setup is better in a way that it will probably take much more abuse than what we have had in mind and there are dozens of different ratio combinations available. What we were working on only has one or two gearing options which work for street setup we look for but would be almost useless in track cars.

Because of the 928 engine bay size, the sky's the limit on engine options. If someone drops a Viper engine off at Dinsdale's shop it could be grafted to the 928 trans or the Vette torque tube and I would help make that happen. From experience the entire Corvette drivetrain is easier and would be less costly to drop in the 928 than just grafting in the 6 speed Vette to the 928 engine with custom clutch, Bellhousing, rear X-member. Whatever Dinsdale decides is a fair price for that option is up to him and his crazy brother. It's no secret I'm an LS fan and will help him develop a full-blow bolt-in Corvette Drivetrain kit and some other goodies for the beast.

From the sketch where the guys hijack an airplane and want to take it to Luton....meanwhile another group hijacks a bus and wants to go to Cuba!
They show the bus going down the road...pulling to the side and then making a U-turn. Anyway...just another classic.
Ok..Thread Hijack over
