Much easier to drop in an auto 6 speed and get the Vette torque tube as well.

Bumping:

Would the transmission for the 6-speed auto be the 6L80E used in 2006+ Corvettes (C6 Generation)? I think that rear end ratio is 2.56, which is remarkably similar to the 2.54 ratio of the 89+ 928s.

C5 ratio's here and presume the C6's will be the same. Most GM ratio's have not changed for a long time. T

Dinsdale,

I have guys on my 6-spd manual thread asking questions about putting a 6 spd automatic in a 928.

I will post a link to this thread for them to come here and get the info. I just bet many of their questions have already been answered here.

this thread is going on for so long...... I forget the point. why are we going thorugh the cycles of a conversion to a C5 6 speed again? because we cant find S4 transmssions anymore? any benefits?
a summary of the goals would be nice to catch up, rather than reading the 28 pages.
thx

I know the 928s are not meant to be quick off the line but would the Corvette transmission help with that?

Top ten reasons for the 928 six speed conversion.
#10 It increases my status in the Republican Party.
# 9 It confuses my neighbors.
# 8 It impresses people who have no idea what their looking at.
#7 Six is more than five.
#6 My parents said "that's Interesting".
#5 My top speed will be 233 mph with a 1500 dollar transmission.
#4 My brothers said I couldn't do it. [ screw them]
#3 I get to put a V12 sticker on my car.
#2 Chick's. With a V12 I'm gonna get me some chick's.
#1 Because I can. [Did.]

Hey Dinsdale, have you had any luck with a C6 transaxle that is automatic in a 928 yet? I saw something about paddle shift a while back and it got me thinking about TCi's paddle kit that would work perfectly for this setup.

Mongo, No auto kit yet. We've designed and fabricated all the proprietary parts necessary to the install. Except the flex plate adapter. Will do that when I get a transmission in my hands.
The TCI paddle shifter looks good. I will be using the paddle shifter assembly supplied by the company that provides the trans controller.
That's where I'm at right now.
I've been contemplating installing this transmission with my new 1gzfe Toyota v12 engine conversion, But I need's me some fund's.
If someone is interested I would sell my complete 6speed conversion. Anyone that might be interested please PM me. 6 speed Mmmmmmmmm!

Hey Dinsdale, since the v12 is done, is this project back on yet? I am anxious to know as I see a flappy paddle shifting 4L60E swap with a 3.73 differential in my future.
