so, I got side tracked, a little bit, since I have OCD/ADD (self diagnosed)...and was going bonkers trying to figure out why my headlights would not pop up.....after cleaning everything, I narrowed it down to either the headlight switch, relay, or headlight motor. Got a spare switch, and that changed nothing....got one of those nice headlight relays, made out of "unobtainium", and viola! Working headlights, pop up & down...Yay!

Back to the thing not turning over with the key....wanted to get that solved (remember, no fuel system installed yet)...Oh..wait...forgot....Pulled off the spider, found the throttle body seized, and the CIS "plate" stuck (I know the name, just having a brain fart)....took them apart, "de-gummed" and lubed them up....all good now...
Replaced all vacuum lines, and reassembled the spider. Replaced all the under hood fuel lines (a major bitch).
Disassembled, cleaned, and repaired my broken fuel sender (the ground wire attach point and clip on the inner assembly rusted away). I rebuilt it with a soldering iron and the brass element from a fuse.

Not a permanent fix, remember, my goal is to get her to fire, check motor and drive train, and go from there....
Had the original tank bracket, had to make a few repairs, wire wheel it clean, primer, and paint it....
ok....back to the no key start...driving me nuts.....I determined the ignition switch was no good, and obtained another one....while I was under the dash, I noticed a broken button....hmmm...that button was not in the owners manual...why was it there???

I followed the wires...this button was exactly like the intensive washer button, but something did not seem right....looked like a red wire was coming off the broken button, and deeper behind the dash, it was spliced into a yellow wire....then it hit me.....that yellow wire was the same gauge as the yellow wire in the 14-pin connector.....could it be??? Took the guts out of the intensive washer button, put them in the broken button, turned the key....pushed the button, and she turned right over....BASTARDS!!!
More to follow........

Lol...long way from ending.....I hope you have a few years......I'm just playing catch up...a little teaser....she was just recently moved to her new home, a brand new workshop that went up last month behind my house that is under construction....there are pics in some random posts...

Depami...you are probably right, but when I found her, I swear I felt a little spark the first time I touched it...probably static..lol....I love it, and can't abandon her....it is my first (and only, currently) 928, and I will restore and keep her till I'm gone.....I plan to have more...but considering I paid $650, it was relatively cheap, and I will learn all about the car from the ground up....who knows, I might end up mastering the OB's.....
Agree.

I will try to resize...the rotation is doing it all by itself....I dont know what gives there....funny thing is, my pics are much smaller looking in the Mac photo viewer.....DOH...I'll figure it out....
BTW...please don't "shut-up" I like and appreciate the comments...(not negative ones tho'...I am way past the giving up stage)...I have a pretty stressful job, and this thing gives me quite a good stress relief....
Martin, I am sorry, I dont know what GJ is....lots of shots of it going up on Pelican, in the "blog" link under my user name (which is the same as here)...

Alllright, gotta go work on the house now, so wont be much posting from me today....
So, the next step, for this adventure.....remember...goal is to get this thing to run on it's own....was to replace the itty bitty "push button start" with a better one, which I did (no pic...put it in the same location) eventually will get rid of it altogether, I don't like it.
Replaced all the rear fuel lines, and removed the accumulator and filter assembly, and had to stop, as we got our house deal worked out, and had to pack and move.
Crammed all the tools and equipment and parts I could into the car and closed her up.
Here is the bad accumulator:

I think it's awesome what you are doing. If I had the space, I'd be tempted too. I would need a lot more tools (welders, etc) and knowledge tho. It's a great hobby, and stress killer.
Think about the rusted away shells of 356's that are being brought back these days. Of course, our cars aren't worth the costs of those resto jobs (yet) but it is still something that is an accomplishment when done.

Ahhhhh, might have to check GJ out!
Getting closer to finishing my AC install....on the house....
Still have to wire the workshop, and get ready for the power co. to hook up....
So, to continue a bit....(beginning of Sept) got the car delivered to the new workshop, got all the tools out, got a shelf unit out of storage, and got all the parts put on the shelf....most of my tools are still in the small shed at my old house, but I have a lot in the new shop now...enough to keep working...jacked up the rear end, and began working on The fuel lines at the rear...cut out the crushed one, brazed a hump on the line, and clamped a hose on it.....
