DR...your'e on!
As soon as I get my AC done at the house, I should have a little freedom again...
My motor has 58k on the clock...hope it's accurate...it turns over and has good compression....hope to have the fuel system done soon, and try to fire her...all I have more details soon....
Soontobered: I have made quite a few friends already..lol...I have been on Peli, and Renn for a little while now...I found Peli first, and posted all my background / personal stuff there, prior to finding rennlist...I have a little blog there with some pics of the car and my new workshop.....
Dad was a German car mechanic...mostly benz and VW, but a lot of air cooled stuff, and I have restored quite a few lost souls, schiroccos, SR5 trucks, Chevy trucks, 4runners, etc...all for myself....no stranger to the mechanics, and I am quite good at auto electrics...so I ain't skeered!
Depami: Why not?? it's a 928 man! I got it cheap, the wife let me build a nice shop, and has not thrown me out of the house...and it beats watching Honey Boo Boo!
More updates coming soon!!

I replaced the CE panel and most of the relays...still couldn't get it to turn over, turned the key, got the wipers to run, the radio to come on, a right side light to come on, and a $hitload of smoke to come out of the "new" panel.....turned out the blower motor was seized, and it let all the smoke out of my relay....

I respect your ambition and wish you the best but in all honesty, that car doesn't even have value as scrap. Surely you could find a better "cheap" candidate for restoration.

Ron,
After meeting you at SITM, and looking at your photos, I was impressed with your courage to undertake this project. My pontoon boat project is also completed, my 69 911 is not, but the 928 S4 is great, and a DD. You will be rewarded with a great car, especially an early one. I really liked my 78 (no sunroof, no rub strips), I believe you will love yours when it's finished!

Got the blower motor "un-siezed", using a crescent wrench, and aerokroil. cleaned the heck out of the cowl area, will silicone seal when I re-assemble....I cleaned and vacuumed the interior, removing rotted carpet, glass, a few layers of the sound deadening material and floorboard...then pulled out the crap rusty stereo, and all the wires and amps and speakers some fool put in....looks worse now...lol, but clean! I then cleaned all the ground points, repairing some wires along the way. still could not get anything to happen with the key....Disassembled the 14-pin, and cleaned it...

I had to open up the bananas, and sand inside the barrels with a needle file...
Put it back together, and still got nothing...grrrrrr....studied wiring diagrams, pulled the starter, and found the hot wire from the battery was completely corroded at the starter and 6" back. got some new wire, and copper split bolts, and made me a nice new piece. Disassembled the starter, cleaned it, same with the solenoid...hooked it up to the battery with jumper cables, and it almost core drilled through my driveway....put it all back together, upside down...grrr...had to remove and rotate....
Turned the key.........nuthin'

Depami...you are probably right, but when I found her, I swear I felt a little spark the first time I touched it...probably static..lol....I love it, and can't abandon her....it is my first (and only, currently) 928, and I will restore and keep her till I'm gone.....I plan to have more...but considering I paid $650, it was relatively cheap, and I will learn all about the car from the ground up....who knows, I might end up mastering the OB's, and become Jim Doerr Jr.!!!! (cep't I think I'm older than Jim)
Dave, thanks man! Hope to see you again soon!

also, guys...some of you re hearing all this for the first time...I have had it since March, and have been able to do some good work....and so far, I am not daunted...this thing is built well...Once I am comfortable with the mechanics, I will strip the interior, grind out all the rust, cut out the passenger floor pan, weld in new steel, rustproof, and re-seal. Then prep for paint....I won't paint it myself, but at least want to put the sweat into learning how to prep one properly....but I am getting too far ahead...1st priority is to make the motor run.....
