Per "da boss" I am only allowed to have 1 toy......................which is why I traded the Estate for Casper..... While I think I can afford lots of toys, Da boss sees things differently.....

Hmmm does this mean da boss only gets one python designer bag? Or only the matching purse-wallet, but not the sunglasses too,.....she calls it the "trifecta" and I cry every time she says it.....

Methinks that ''trifecta" can have many meanings...

S2, S3, S4

US 16V, US 32V, ROW?

Red, Black and Blue?

Maybe NA, SC, Turbo

Three new kittens per car I bring home.
That 86.5 Muskeego parts car cost dearly.
Trying to negotiate back to 2 in the next couple days.

Ken,
Love the black 86.5. Sure you really want to sell it?

exactly how my wife sounds. 'you have too many things...'

all old, do all my own work, paid for.

so I offered to sell them all and get one. a new GT3, but then be in debt up to my eyeballs.

she was not amused.

sigh.....

Hilton means a digi-dash '89 with LSD and autobox. With the cats messing everything up that is a real challenge

I think it's great, to. Mechanically, it's a tour de force.

But, it's totally impractical for city driving.

I'm also suffering from Post Tuning Stress Disorder.
Too many months staring at assembly code, too many hours testing/logging, ad nauseum.

All I want to do is jump in my plush auto and push the go pedal.

It's the torque converter that is the problem, not the catalysts.
The torque converter changes the gear ratio unpredictably at lower rpm/higher load.

Wouldn't the results be similar to the Sharktuned S4 numbers? I think Ken's chips make more power than most if not all of those I've seen.

Soooooo, maybe just UPGRADE to an S3?

Keep us posted on the final status of the car. Looks like a fine car.

If you were local, I am sure that we would have worked out a very happy trade way back last year.

I may not be able to bring the peaks up, but I might make a bit more average power.

A lot of what I've done is for the S3 is increase part throttle response, and non-WOT performance. I can probably do this for S4-up, too.

In looking for the NASA logbook, I found the old dyno sheets for this car.

The car now has electric fans, airbox lid delete, etc., compared to the basically stock with X-pipe, but...dayumn.
Compared to completely stock (which I couldn't photoshop in), OMG.

(scan - 2005 stock, 257 HP, 248 TQ)

(scan - 2006 stock w/X-pipe, 271 HP, 283 TQ)

Pretty crazy that you've freed up another 40 ponies at the wheels by tuning (and a few minor mods like your intake rings).

Nice work!

Default nice

its picking up all that area where the OEM curve sags that really changes the car's character on the street- and now the torque curve is climbing nicely even when the HP sags.
I imagine that this is probably what the engineers of the intake were imagining.

This is a pretty amazing accomplishment Ken!

I would love to see what you could do with some forced induction.

70 TQ, 50 HP at 4300...

It was a good dyno day, 70F/21C air temp, so that helped.
Little to no air temp retard (variable on my chip).

Did I mention 89 octane (95 RON)?

I just wish it would breath better over 5200 rpm.
White car needs cam cover gaskets...maybe time for Colin's cams.
