Default Leaving Porsche behind... 928 for sale

Hey guys I have not been around much due to family issues but I thought I would throw it out there if anyone is interested in my 1988 s4 auto. I have way too many cars and I am leaving Porsche. I am also selling my 84 carrera if anyone wants one. Here is a link.

Wow that's a good price, those issues are pretty easy to fix, good luck on the sale!

The car is not perfect but it would make a nice driver with a little tlc. Here is a small video of the car yesterday. I cleaned it up a ton today and buffed the wheels and put a new battery in.

That's the elkhart car from Fort Wayne that sat for a few years. Good save. Nice potential profit, too.

Car interior looked good, didn't seem to have any moisture in it despite being parked outside.

You beat me back to that car by minutes, btw.

Good price, assuming good endplay.

Aaah, it hurts seeing good 928's being sold this cheap (especially S4's). It doesn't make sence spending any money fixing my OB anymore.

It's only in the U.S. due to their economy and the currency exchange, our used car market is still on the expensive side here in Canada so it make me sick seeing all these good cars sell for cheap!

That's exactly what happened here, in the town with just about the highest unemployment rate in the nation. The home of 80% of the RV trailer and motorhome industry.

Throw-in a split family, an unemployed kid with lots of piercings selling a car he'd never even seen before, nor heard run, on behalf of his soon to be father inlaw (who gifted it to the kid just to give him some hope), with a teenaged soon to be wife expecting at any moment, after quitting college due to pregnancy, cold wet thanksgiving, headed for Christmas...bought for the price of the seats.

Yes, I noticed quite a lot of youngsters stepping into the 928 adventure. Economy may not (yet) be so bad here in the Netherlands but I am pretty sure parent's don't want their kids driving around in suh a powerful fast car. Better to start with a cheap economical car and earn the money to buy it and run it. That's how I started and I wouldn't want it differently now for my daughters (20 and 17 years of age).

Everyone one keeps asking why I am selling the car so cheap, I am selling it for what I have into the car and not a penny more. I found the car about a year ago on Craigs List and bought the car sight unseen. They were asking $2500 for the car and I felt like taking a trip. I figured for that price If it ran I would get it going and if timing belt ect. was toast I would part it. Thanks for posting up a little more info on the cars' History. When I arrived there the car had been sitting some time and was covered in tree debris. After a quick inspection I was very impressed with the condition of the car. I pulled the carpet up in the trunk and realized it had been painted. The paint job is not show quality but It by no means was a shoddy job, the jambs, under hood, ect was all painted. It looks as most of the car was disassembled for paint or they did a hell of a masking job. I towed it back home and parked in my storage for a month. At that point I drained the tank, examined the car, cleaned it up, changed the oil and tried starting it up. The car had good spark and compression but would only fire on a little gas misted in and the fuel system was clicking. After replacing some relays , cleaning the fuse box and cleaning up the ground points I tracked it down to a failed lh Ecu. I believe that the PO cooked the ecu with their little charging system that they had hooked up to the car. After getting another ecu the car fired right up and sounded beautiful. I had done a lot of other little things and can honestly not remember everything I did. I would go back ervery month or so and do a little here and there but I just do not have the time right now. My wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer the year before and after six surgeries I am just plain and simple worn out and have too many projects. My wife is fine now but the experience has changed my perspectives. I know this sounds like the usual used car sales pitch but I am just trying to be as honest as possible.

Like I mentioned before thanks for posting up some more background information on the PO that I purchased it from. The "son" of the owner was selling the car as it was gifted to him by his Father. The Kid was a bit rough around the edges and said that he knew nothing about the car and that he was scared of the repair bills for a Porsche. The story posted earlier makes more sense now as the "Father" seemed constantly displeased with the Kid and was real hesitant about signing the title over for the purchase price. The Father told me that he gave it to his "son" because he needed money. The Father owned another beautiful black low mileage manual S4. He told me that he bought this white one first and drove it for a couple years and then ran across the Black S4 at the country club and it was a steal. He said that the Black car is his dream car and that he no longer has time to drive it and both cars are just sitting and he had no garage space available for the white one. I even tried to buy the black one at the same time since I had extra room on my trailer. Thanks for the background story because there was a strange tension at this house.

That is a killer price and another reason I won't sell my 88. Too much time and money spent on it over the years for what they are getting.

Looks like a great deal for someone wanting to get into a 928 and isn't afraid to do their own work.

Good luck with the sale.
