To answer your question, no the current tires are dry rotted from sitting. Also everyone asks if it will make it back to their house if they drive it, I would not drive it long distance with the tires. Like I said earlier I have only driven this car about 300 miles and I am probably over estimating that. So far the car drives nice, there is a shimmy in high speeds in the steering wheel and I would bet it is the crappy tires. The car does not overheat, does not smoke, does not tick bang or clack. I am a trailer person, sorry I don't trust many cars until I have had them in my possession a long time. I am ****

Yep it's a 512. Everyone that comes into my garage thinks its a 308.
I had to know so I measured the crank play today. After all these questions and work I might as well keep the dam thing. Anyways the flex plate moved 4mm and the crank end play was .192mm. My brain hurts after all the math. I should be more accurate, the flex plate moves 3.85 mm

It looks like it is all in spec. I did not do this check before because I was planning on installing the better clamp and be done with it. Oh yeah I torqued it back to 66 foot pounds and the two rear bolts from the cover no longer exist. so you can change the clamp if you want to later without dropping the exhaust.

I had three emails today asking if I would replace the timing belt. Ugh, some people do not understand that I do not want to put any more time in this car. I responded to all three that I would but the new price would be $7900. So if any of you guys emailed me through Craigslist I was in a fowl mood and disregard my sarcasm and no I won't replace it. I will pull the covers and add photos tomorrow of the belt and that it looks to be in fantastic shape and I have the receipt for te replacement. Sometimes I hurt sales when I tell people what I would do. I should just keep my opinions to myself and just tell them I would drive it. Sorry for the rant.

I must apologize also. I looked at the receipts I have and it shows the timing belt changed at 97,695 miles. The po told me that he had the belt changed @ 106k I do not have the receipt for his claim and the receipt that I do have is from the previous owner before him. I trust the po owner but I am putting it out there so that people know. I would rather go by a receipt that word but I do trust the po. He said he was worried about it when he got the car and had it changed after driving it half a year. Mileage wise ect seems to match up. Anyways he said from what I can remember that it was changed in 05 which is still too old for my liking since the car sat a lot.

Same conclusion I made after reviewing the documentation.
Fair price I think for a project S4.
I spent an hour poking around it, just a few hours after it was listed for sale last fall. It was a non runner then, apparently fixed with computer refurb?
This is a car that needs the full $5000 mech refurb, parts only.
Don't mislead yourselves, owner here is trying to point that out.
Front left fender had some filler it seemed, maybe that is why it got resprayed.

Thanks Landseer, Yep the Ecu did it and some new infamous three relays. The fenders seem fine but the front bumper car does have filler on it and I point to it in one of the videos. I checked the carfax and no accidents show up but there has been a repair in the cover. Front frame section measures up well. I was expecting the worst when I picked up the car and the more and more I dig into it I am pleasantly surprised. I also have a photo of the rear underside from when I did the trans service.
Thinking back over the past year I have done quite a bit and things keep popping into my head. I just remember I changed out the cluster bulbs and cleaned all the contacts when I was diagnosing the pegged oil pressure gauge. The car also has a tint like i have never seen on the windows. It is almost impossible to tell because the tint is very light and has no lines around the edges of the windows. The front windshield was tinted also but had some foggy spots so I removed it. The tint was very very thick plastic. If I can remember right it has a Sun Shades label on the back window under the spoiler. Like landseer says I am trying to point out everything about the car. I had a couple before this car and like every 928 owner it becomes an addiction and every 928 needs constant attention. This why I posted this here because I hate selling older P cars to first time buyers. Every p car is a pain to maintain and they all have their own quirks and most people on this forum are aware of these and enjoy them. Here is a video of my last 928 before this one. I missed working on them and enjoying the looks from others.
Oh yeah the kid with the hat is not me, he is the owner of the Dyno

I had called to go look, and was told about the potential buyer coming from Chicago. I suspected if someone was coming that far they were serious. and from all the info suspected they would buy this 928.
I was VERY tempted, but hesitated too long. maybe best I didn't, but now have a 2 bay garage and no major work needed on either of my cars this winter.
so back to the hunt for a new project. have my sights on a potential 944 turbo that needs to be rescued/refreshed.
