One came up on craigslist or ebay that was talked about here with 450k on it.
From memory, a few years back someone else ran across a guy who had even more than that on it (he wasn't selling - was in for repairs or something).

Unfortunately, the odo gear gives up early on these cars. Most people don't panic and rush to replace the gear when it does go south. I've seen so many 928s with just a little over 170,000 on the frozen clock... Would be interesting to know this though... Anybody have an "Abby-normal" odo gear that has survived past 200k?

I think Roger had a customer with either 300k or 600k.
The other side of the coin is that the odometer sometimes fails with the 100k digit turning with some much lower digit (something like that) so really high is just as unlikely as really low without records.

Mine just stopped at 245k miles, I'm now up to just over 247k miles and will bring it up acne I install the new gear.
Iirc SeanR has seen one with over 600k miles.

Yup, Morgan has one with over 600k and another with around 450k IIRC. He was a traveling salesman and when he'd wear one out he'd go buy another. Apparently they all still run but are not in that great of shape.

Here is one on the Dutch 'ebay' with 438k km (273k miles for those on the other side of the pond). Still looks good. (no affiliation with the seller)
My own car has zero miles on it. Since I reset the odometer. Still have to put the new odometer gear in to make it work again. So I have no knowledge of my own car's mileage.
Leo. 1984 euro S2 5spd.

88 S4 auto - Mine has about 167K, and no problems with odometer. It's been super reliable for me over the last almost 20 years, off and on daily driver.
I had the transmission rebuilt at about 160K when the seals started going. One of the gears was also worn so I had it replaced. Other than that, major components replaced included the ECU Brain and motor mounts at about 140K. Otherwise it has been a pretty normal maintenance cycle.
The only real surprise was that the water pump went out once around 130K miles (about maybe 40K on the pump). Prior to failure, the timing belt light came on intermittently, and I had it in the shop several times to diagnose the timing belt symptom. A new belt and tensioner didn't help, and no one could figure it out. In hindsight, I suspect now it was early signs from the water pump - good to know if I ever get that symptom again. It was a rebuilt pump, but I don't have the details, and I will just always do the pump at the same frequency from now on.
Most everything is original equipment still at 167K. The most recent leakdown test at 135K was <6% all cylinders, which shows some change from the 0-3% or so at 50k. This is pretty impressive to me. It's the best and most reliable car I've ever owned.

I put 370k miles on my old 83 and still got 3k for it when I sold it. Still ran beautifully. I did replace the trans at about 300k. That included clutch/pp etc... But was oritional engine, heads were never removed. I used Mobil 1 syn from the 1st day of purchase. So, you see why I have every reason to believe that I will be driving my 86.5 for the next 20 years. Try that with most any new car you can buy.

Right, my GT racer had 310k kilometers - just shy of 200k when I bought it. At the moment it is on 370k kilometers. Ok, just the shell remains now, as everything in the car is GTS derived, but I still have the original G55.28 and the M28.47 in my garage as spares. When I dropped my S2 5spd in the Porsche Zentrum in Koln for some minor work, the Head Technician there was running a beautiful 86.5 5spd with around 700,000 kilometers on the clock. Still on the original engine/gearbox. Had clutches and suspension struts changed. Overall though, it was a 8.5/10 car!
