Default Mega squirt first start... well sort of...

So after getting everything ready, sensors calibrated, all the fields entered with the info i have, she just does not want to start.

the car cranks, coughs, some backfire in the intake (some times). i guess it boils down to i just dont know what i need to fix in Tuner studio , or what i have forgotten or cant find. for example, i have no idea where i adjust the initial timing at, so for all i know its at zero.

here is a link to the thread i started on the MS3 support forum.
http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewto...?f=131&t=46519

i might just have to find a local tuner and have them do it. im doing all the reading i can but WHEW.. does it make my brain hurt.

I can send you my file (stock 5.0 liter with EDIS 8)....perhaps it can help you tweak your values to get it to run.. (When I was tuning mine at a local shop years ago..he said..he wouldn't work on a megasquirted car unless it was running..then he would have no issue playing with it)...

nope.. mine was one he created for his 32V 86 way back... we put that system on my track car (91 32V engine) and it had to be tweaked a bit (still needs some work)..but it did run on first crank..

You have to put a timing light on it during cranking before doing anything else.
Is this EDIS? then it should default to 10 BTDC or something like that.

Have you checked the plug wiring yet?

im running LS2 coils, in sequential mode. MS3X box. all the wiring is good and all the sensors are good to go. i guess im just overwhelmed by all the settings. wires check out ok.

i send a datalog file for 15 seconds of cranking to the MS boys, hope to hear back tomorrow.
here is a list of whats what

MS3X box running fuel and spark
Full sequential mode
Stock crank sensor
VR cam sensor
GM coolant/air temp sensors
951 TPS
Innovate wide band LC-1
MSD LS2 Coils
36lb bosch injectors running 43.5 PSI at the regulator
Stock plugs gaped at .050
Bosch 3wire PWM from an S3 (or S4)

How do you know you're firing on the correct revolution? Do you have a setting to change it by 360 degrees? That's common to have to do.
What about the timing light, what does it read during cranking?
You may want to keep the fuel pump off and plugs out until satisfied with spark

by the timing light on number one, she is 10 BTDC. now you could be right, it could be 360 out, but i am not finding that setting in tuner studio.... hummm.

Looks like I have a slight "sync loss" issue with the cranks sensor. Going to swap the wires on it and see if that clears that up tomorrow.

Did you add a 1k ohm resistor into the + line from the VR to the brain?

If you didn't, you need to. MS cannot use the stock VR sensor without it.

that i did not do. looks like i have a dirty Crank signal, im going to swap the leads on the sensor and try again. if that does not work, ill try the resistor idea. the signal i am getting is mostly clean, but im getting a little spike after it reads the tooth. and from what i have been told/read is that i have the polarity wrong.

Got it to run! Just roughish, and not idle. I updated the mega squirt forum with new data log files.

looks like my crank signal is a little dirty still, so im going do adjust the rise/fall portion of the code see if that helps. then adjust the pot till i clear that up.

cam signal likes to show up when its not needed at times. so that will be adjusted as well.

weeeeee
