The 928 OC is an irrelevant organization. You guys are fighting over who's going to be in charge of an organization that could die and wouldn't be missed by many. Stan wants to take this discussion to the OC forum but that forum is dead. You would get more views if you posted it on Reutterwerk, and that place is a ghost town. Rennlist is now, and has been for a long time, THE place to go for 928 discussions and technical advice and information. Rennlist and Facebook would be the place I would focus attention in order to get volunteers as well as new members. Why would you ignore the places where the majority of active 928 owners interact? And to say that the president of the "Owners Club" shouldn't be expected to attend the "Owners Club International Convention" is rediculous.

In the end it is just a Car Club and should be about comradery first.

All the best,

Dave
Dave, there were *NO* programs in place. Members were complaining because they paid in, and got nothing back. There was *nothing* to transition. Today we get multiple member signups *weekly* for what we offer via the forum and programs. Those *members* need to know that the programs they signed up to get, are going to be continued or *not*.

I heartily disagree that nobody will notice if all that I have done is discontinued.

Sorry to disagree with facts, but sometimes the truth is not what you want to believe:
600+ members would miss the organization
700+ forum members
Dozens of forum users that post and review the forum weekly

I think it is most appropriate for you to offer your assistance to the next president, as that is just over 1 month away.

The site software that you had an issue with, is the same base software used with Rennlist; vbulletin

This is so ironic that you post this...think back a couple of years ago when I was a trustee...I mentioned the fact the front end of the site was long overdue for a fresh look (after all it still looks basically the same as when i created it originally with a MS Frontpage Template.) and even said it was MY fault. At just the mention of this (and with other officers/trustees also agreeing)..YOU went ballistic on me and others saying how much you had done with the website/forum software and on and on about the cost and time to do it...you as President SQUASHED the idea completely....and quite frankly was very rude to me and others in the process.

This is exactly what I have been talking about, it was plain as day to me after that, that you were so emotionally invested and frustrated and were so sensitive to any constructive feedback (as evidenced by every RL thread concerning the OC you have posted in, ever)...that suggesting or trying to offer ANY help unless it was your idea was a waste of time.

You have not realized it, but you have become so engrossed in the Control you have made it clear to me and many others by your defensiveness it was "Stan's way or no way".

Stan, you don't even realize how you are coming across do you? Wake up, you are an ELECTED Offical... you do not OWN the 928OC..it is not up to you to decide who to "turn it over to" anyone...it's NOT your call...it is up to the MEMBERS!!

This is root of the issue you and I have concerning the 928OC,..you were elected....you have no rights to who it is turned over to..other than your ONE VOTE as a member.

Again, YOU do not own those programs, or the content on the website...the Members do and YOU did not create all of this by yourself. You seem to imply with veil threats in a few posts already that this content or programs will disappear once you leave...are you planning to wipe the 928OC website and content when you are no longer President OR IF the person you want to succeed you is not elected?? It is sure starting to sound that way to me.

Stan, seriously you are starting to scare me a little....you REALLY need to step away ASAP and take a break..the way too long of a term in control of the OC has gone to your head in a bad way.... again, you are an elected officer...and your time is up..If you have an ounce of caring about the 928OC left in you...LET GO OF THE REIGNS PLEASE!!

Funny, I still remember giving you the Login and passwords to the 928OC website I created....I really feel it's your turn to do the same and let go.

Cheers,

Dave

Just because someone is an OC member doesn't mean that they would miss the OC. A lot of people support it becasue they feel like it's the right thing to do. Others join when they first buy their car and have no idea what is ( or isn't ) offered for their dues. We've heard from a few people here in this thread that have said that they don't feel they have gotten much value for their membership. And to be proud of dozens of users a week is a pretty low standard. At this very moment there are 82 people viewing the Rennlist 928 forum, with 72,278 threads and 1,115,232 posts since it's inception. That's just the 928 forum. 82 viewers at an off peak time of day. This is where your audience is Stan. From a couple of your posts it appears that there may have been something said to you in the past about not posting OC business on Rennlist. Can you give us a little background on that so we might better understand your aversion to posting on Rennlist vs the OC forums?

Thanks

Sorry Dave, the site is nothing like the one I inherited, it is quite old now, but it was a complete new re-development way back in 2003. I don't have any recollection of anyone offering to help with a new development, and in fact some board members were against the 928 OC having its own forum, and wanted to use Rennlist (which owns its content).

You are 100% correct, it is the *members* website, the *members* forum and the *members* programs. So I want to ensure those same *members* know what they will be getting.

I am 100% ready to step away. I just don't want the *members* saying afterwards they wish they understood their options better at the time. Thus I respond to those who post here, with facts.

You may be confusing those who want to tell me what I should do vs. what I am willing to do, and that is why people do or do not elect people. In the last election I told people they could have more of the same with steady improvements, and I have followed through. This time they can choose between someone who has done what they said, and someone who has not.

The *members* will choose their future, I support James who will do what he says he will do.

The 928 OC forum has 19 members and 74 guests online right now. I didn't know that those were the numbers you cared about....

Randy was key in contesting 928 OC information not be posted in Rennlist. As you noted he is one of those that has a distaste for the 928 OC, and it goes back further then my leadership. Per our database there was a problem contacting him in 2007, which is the other issue he has.

I have responded to each post about any specific lack of value, most (like Andrew) haven't visited the 928 OC in so long they are talking about (nearly) ancient history.

Damn Guys! Lighten up! This should not have become a bash Stan or the OC issue!
Stan has been the president of a VOLUNTEER organization. I appreciate the job he has done. He now feels it is time to move forward. OK, good. Let's move forward. There are 2 candidates vying for the position of President(for God knows what reason- a thankless position)
With any volunteer organization, it is a beast of a time to get help to do anything. People are saying that the OC could be so much more. Great! Let's have more volunteers helping to make it better. I check the OC website every day. I cross post interesting stuff from RL to the OC website just to make sure that folks there (that don't come here) get notified.
This shouldn't be about RL vs. OC. Let's not make that an issue.
The OC is about camraderie and a love for the 928. We ALL love the 928, let's keep it that way.

I would like to thank ALL the volunteers who give their time to make the OC a better place, and ALL the folk who VOLUNTEER to serve on the board of the OC.

BTW, I just got your Official 928OC NC Region Email reminding everyone about the upcoming 928OC Elections, thanks for that.... but I think you forgot to paste Andrew's Political Statement in it to go along with James' Political Statement that you pasted in it...you may want to check that e-mail and correct that omission, it's only fair to have both in an official correspondence to 928OC Members using the email addresses you are given access to as the 928OC NC Region representative.

Of course, it could be an issue with my email, I will double check that....especially since I noticed from the list of e-mail addresses you sent it too that it appears James has moved to North Carolina.....or accidentally was added to the list of 928OC NC Region recipients :-) LOL

Cheers,

Dave
Dave,

You're absolutely right, and you and the other NC guys should have both in your email boxes now. I've already said that I'll be supporting James, but there is no reason why everyone else can't decide for themselves. Not fair on my part at all for not supplying both, sorry about that. I'll support whoever wins regardless.

James asked to be on my list when I took over from Chuck. I think it was mainly for cross reference for his membership contacts, so I've kept him on ever since. I assume it's the same for all the regional guys, but I really don't know.

AMEN John, AMEN!!! WOW! You are quite correct the Presidency is a thankless position too. Just look at how this is going here. You can't please everyone all the time and you can please some people EVER! Lord knows I learned that lesson as Pres of the local PCA region (our region was nearly as big as the whole of the OC btw). I just love these cars and all my friends here so much I want each member to have a great experience and to get the most out of the OC. It is a growing organization and there will always be growing pains. I am sure that AO feels the same about this. Either one of us will do our best to make the club a better place. We may not go in the same direction or have the same ideas about what that is or how to achieve it, but it WILL CHANGE!

This seems to be a no brainer. One candidate who is an active OC member and has been active in making the club better and who has experience in running a club such as the PCA region he belongs to, and the other candidate who re ups his OC membership to run for president with no leadership experience that we know of. Look at the resume's of these two and ask yourself "who is better qualified for the position?" The answer is obvious.
But then again, that didn't work in the past, because Obama was elected and he can't even balance a checkbook!

LOL! That is to funny! Not to get political but I couldn't agree more...Yea, I am a fiscal conservative, but a social liberal...there is never a presidential candidate I like... give me a Ron Paul type, but who isn't crazy when it comes to foreign policy!
