Andrew,
As you know I had my reservations two years ago but now fully support your nomination and election.
Your vision is what the OC needs to move forward to the the next stage of becoming a much larger, International group with defined benefits for the membership.
You have my vote and good luck.
Roger

Andrew, I'm thrilled to hear you're running. Your assessment of where the club is at and your vision of where you'd like to take it is spot on and desperately needed. Thanks for attending the OCIC, I've been to all of them and it's the first time I ever saw a club president attend one - even if you're not one yet.

I will say this, I am not an OC member. I was at one time a very long time ago but I did not renew because I just did not feel that I got much for my money. I am not going to join just to vote for Andrew, that being said IF you win I will be your first new member of the OC. I believe Andrew has the knowledge and PASSION to make the OC a value for 928 owners . You heard it here "ANDREW WINS AND I'M IN"

While I wish I could believe Andrew, it has been said before in 2010, and he promised to help whether he won, but did not, even when offered that he could name any appointed position.

The key question anyone should ask is whether Andrew will follow through this time, when he says he has less time now. Has he identified who is key volunteers will be, and which positions they will take? Or is he going to abandon those current programs? Whatever he plans on doing due to his history of not following through, members should ask how he plans to do so. It will not happen on its own.

His statement looks to be a repeat of 2010, and those that care about the club, should visit the topic to understand who Andrew is: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...t-longish.html

And the political games start.

Why not try to say why your preferred candidate is better Stan, rather than trying to discredit your former running opponent?

It isn't a political game to me sir. I think it is very important for the members to understand where Andrew will take the club, it isn't a matter of ideas, it is a matter of work. Much of what Andrew talks about is in place and moving forward. It is the lack of volunteers that doesn't make things happen quicker.

My choice is James Morrison. When a new membership chair went missing in action, James took on a very difficult "makeup ground" position and has stuck with that job for two years. He has been working with a presumptive replacement for himself, and I have assured James I will be there to do whatever he needs me to.

I was ready to move on many years ago and waited for someone to come forward. Initially I thought Andrew was that person, but it became clear to me that he did not have intentions of putting the time in needed to keep the programs in place running.

I know nothing of what Andrew will do. I know he promised it all before, and said even if he didn't win he would volunteer. To me that would have been a great opportunity for him to prove himself to the membership. So, any rational thinking person has to ask, "why didn't Andrew do that?". After all the pay is the same for president or appointed position (zero).

My purpose at this point is to ensure that the members understand what they are getting. With James the club will continue growing and improving. With Andrew, it might be all about one thing. I really don't want members coming back to me, and saying "why didn't you warn us?". So I am doing so.

There are 700+ 928 fans on the 928 OC forum, Andrew has posted there only a few times in the 2 years he has been there.

Is Andrew a Rennlist member running for 928 Owners Club President or a 928 Owners Club member running for President?

James Morrison gets it done, and that is what matters.

Well Stan, I for one have already volunteered to help AO in whatever task he asks of me. That's a start and I am sure there will be others. I've known AO almost 10 years now, granted a remote type of friendship, but I believe he has changed, matured and is among the most dedicated 928 owner out there. I said it before, you have done a terrific job these past 9 years, but by your own admission you want to move on. Let the members choose who they think will do the best job. We don't need any mud slinging.

If this does go 'political', I'm thinking write-in campaign for landsharklady.

For now, "vigorous exchange of ideas" seems healthy.

Jim, it is refreshing to hear that you are willing to help AO, as I know you are one of those who has put in the effort needed behind the OCICs, so that is refreshing.

I don't see stating facts as mud slinging. There is no reasons why the members should not know this has been said before....

Jim,

I will add that I have been working with James for over a year, planning the transition. There has been no interaction from Andrew, or members of his team, to prepare for a transition, and of course one has to wonder if it is because it was a spontaneous decision or other.

I think im starting to see the...issues created with having a 'club' when really, I belong to the worlds largest 928 club right here, and my membership is confirmed with "Rennlist Member" by my name.

Im starting to get the vibe from this, that what keeps the 928OC club the busiest, is what finally pushed me away from the SCCA.

Meetings, meetings, politics, and some more meetings.

928OC would have to _deliver_ something of substantive value..to make giving money to another committee, feel useful to me.

However, AO, I would vote for you if I was in. You give back. Its seen.

Hi Stan-

I certainly hope you're not mis-characterizing my statement as a bash against you. It's not. I think you've done an excellent job of carrying out your vision. I have been and continue to be an OC member despite my loss in the last election. There are no sour grapes on my side. I had some major life changes after the last election, but things have settled down significantly.

I have always been willing to help out the OC. I have continued promoting the benefits of the OC - but that frankly has become harder and harder. I've helped organize and I've attended several OC sponsored events. I still need to make it to Sharks in the Park and Sharktoberfest on the left coast. If elected, I will make one or both. Promise.

You did ask me to help out with the OC after the last election which I lost by only a few votes. But frankly, it was clear that our visions are vastly different and I did not feel I could be effective while you were at the helm. My vision has not changed much as you point out - it is a repeat of my last platform. The main reason for this is because most members still do not feel they receive any value for their membership.

Thankfully, Roger, who has endorsed me, "gets it." Did you know that 928sRUs gives OC members a 5% discount? That means a $600 purchase pays for your annual dues. I would like to get other 928 dedicated suppliers (928 Int'l, 928 Motorsports, and 928 Specialists, and possibly others) on board with the same program. Now THAT WOULD CREATE VALUE! Everything else, like event t-shirts, trinkets, etc. become icing on the cake!

It would have been nice if the owner's club would have let the membership know about any new benefits that were developed, don't you think?

You ask if I'm a RL member running for OC President or a OC member running for president. Frankly, I'm both. I spend more time here, because that's where most people are. Of the 700+ on the OC forum, I am one of them and as you point out, I've onlt posted there once or twice in the past couple years. Why do you think that's so? I would be willing to bet most people on the OC forum are similar to me.

In case you haven't taken the time, you should know that Stan is not running for president this time (I think he posted that earlier) I'm not sure why, but I thank him for his service and I know he will continue to be a valuable resource for the club.

I had strong reservations about carving out enough time for this role, but I have discussed it with my family and friends and they have agreed to help me carry out the duties and activities. Together we can all make this club a really great organization again.

I have some other GREAT ideas that will strengthen the club and make it easier for the many volunteers behind the scenes to focus on those activities that will add value. It will require us to re-vamp a lot of things - and of course change is always a little uncomfortable, but I promise, if elected, I will help make things better for everyone!

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their support for me both publicly and privately. I know I can't please all the people all the time, but I will do my best to have your membership add value to you and your 928 - which after all is the mission of the Owner's Club.

And Randy, if elected, I will hunt you down and get that membership dues from you personally!

Speedtoys,

You should check out what the 928 OC does. One thing I can assure you is that it has never had a meeting you would not enjoy, since i have been president. Everything is done electronically through forums and email lists. Votes are taken electronically as well. The only meetings are known as events, where members bring their 928s to share company and talk 928

Regardless of who wins, you should consider joining.

I've been an OC member for 2 years and purchased many many things from 928sRus within that time.

Not once was this ever brought to my attention. Literally, the first I'm hearing of it.
