I have a set of S4 pipes and resonators. I also have a GTS rear muffler.

I have since a while put the stock muffler back on and I am very happy. Drone just drove me crazy and ringing in the ears afterwards...

I fear the smaller mid-mufflers on the 91 with just the stock muffler may not be enough...

Either put the larger resonators on or find a good GT/GTS muffler and you will be good to go.

Just located salvage (80K miles) from the NY Rennlist member whose car burned. Got the larger resonators and muffler (87).

The GT Muffler from 91 will work?

Thanks all!

Throwing the Rear Resonator (muffler) on in place of the RMB for this weekend's run. Will probably try the bigger mid-resonators and RMB and see which works best!

I will say the car felt like it was much, much faster. Engaged PSD starting from stopped and going straight--the power came on so quick--never did that before!

My solution ... headers xpipe 2.5 high flow cats dynomax VT mufflers gibson rear nice and quiet at idle , sound great at WOT . O drone or noise in the car until WOT , no more ringing ears .

Anyone shipping rear resonator sections with pipes should look into Greyhound (bus) shipping. They will ship almost anything for what I have found to be far less than more common shippers. Only downside is that it's station-to-station, of course. I had to go about 15 miles to the nearest Greyhound terminal to pick up the pipes. Just wrap and tape some cardboard around the pipe ends and resonators, covering the sharp mounting points, maybe saran wrap the pipes, and they will take them.

I have not really tried to sell the white car lately (other than the Autotrader ad which seems to only attract scammers...) I just got through moving and am still unpacking, so I will ramp up the effort again, soon. I do have some folks that have expressed interest and that I stay in touch with - we are just waiting on the right timing.

And then, there's that so-crazy-it-just-might-work Bubble Top idea....

I had similar drone problems with the GTS with X-pipe, RMB, and high-flow cats. I swapped the original rear muffler back on there and was much happier.

I'm going to see how the early larger S4 style resonator/muffler works first. Then try the larger early S4/S3 silencers (mid pipe) and RMB works.

If I understand from 1990-95 (89 for GT models) the rear resonator was a different design.

My mids are the later style right now.
