I have a gibson x dual 2.5 stainless that I just took of mine, if someone is enamored of the idea. PM sidebar. It is the standard retail unit, not the one custom-spec'd for Motorsport LLC.

Looking forward to the pics of the VT install, and hoping for some backpressure measurements!

My 87 S4 has large resonators. When we added Roger's X-pipe, I was impressed with the performance. When the stainless RMB was installed, I found the droning at 2200-2400 rpm to be annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you would like to buy a beautiful stainless RMB let me know too.

Thanks terry gt! I look forward to the pics. The stainless RMB exhaust looked great and I'd like to keep it, I just could not get passed the drone. I guess I could crank the stereo!

Here's a vid of one in action...on a flat six I expect...I didn't think about the butterflying but I guess it makes sense.

And one of the better test write ups I came across:

Looks like it was a trick to hit that center exit!
nicely done, fingers still crossed for backpressure reading but the online lit seems to indicate 5 psi in most apps, assuming folks are hitting the displacement/part number guidelines. Take your word system performance in any event.

Hope to hear it someday, in person or on y/t!

If I might..the one on my Volvo (also stainless) developed a healthy compliment some surface rust, if you care about such things hitting the mufflers with some paint may be a good idea. The one on my Jeep is painted, I should see how that's doing.

Congrats on conquering the monster.

Terry,
Glad your drone is gone! Very nice installation. I've done some major changes to my exhaust and have been successful as well; photos to follow.

Any rattling from those Dynomax VTs?

No rattles , there is actualy a second x just before the mufflers . It looks messy but the fit is very good . The system is quiet enough that it could do without the rear muffler .

Update: Changed out twin pipes for a single 3" exhaust with Flowmaster 50 and drone is GONE! No drone (and really kind of quiet) at 2200 rpm and 4500 rpm. Really like the sound. Here's a photo before mounting. A resonance tube was added a week later with the sound becoming 'rounder'.

That is the same thing I'm doing in January '13! However, my muffler will be located at the back instead of mid-mounted.
